Gym rats and therapists: How to get motivated for Zoom group fitness classes?

The best way to motivate yourself to work out at home is to find a routine you truly enjoy, so your at-home workout doesn't feel like work.

Then, control as many factors as you can to set yourself up for success and make it a habit. Sure, the couch looks damn good when you come home after a long day, but sinking into it will feel so much better after you've earned it. If you have a sense of purpose and an aim you will be much more likely to stick to your goals.

At the start of each day, write down three healthy goals you can accomplish in the next 16 hours, It could be eating five servings of fruits and vegetables, hitting 10,000 steps, or prepping some healthy meals. At the end of the day, go back to those goals and see which ones you can cross off.

As you see more goals on your calendar met, you'll know you're getting healthier. There are many ways to get in shape, all very easy to understand and access, the tricky part about an at-home workout is that (surprise!) your home is not a gym.

If you're a mere commoner without a full equipped gym, then you'll need to make whatever space you have work. That might mean setting up a mini gym in your basement or simply moving the coffee table over three inches to fit a yoga mat. Whatever you have to move/set up/dismantle, do it well before your scheduled workout (say, the night prior if you plan on getting up and working out), so there are no barriers or excuses

Schedule a Time to Work out every day Let's be honest, the first 5 or 10 minutes of working out can be really hard, especially when you have a list of excuses ready in your mind. To make it easier to fit in a daily workout, delegate a set time each day to exercise. Based on your schedule, commitments, and the flexibility of working out at home, you can set a designated time to lift weights, run on the treadmill, do circuit training or practice yoga moves.

The last thing you want is your brain to start thinking what's going to be the next exercise. This adds unnecessary fatigue on your brain that can cause you to quit in the middle. You want to know exactly what you are going to do next, just plan your exercises before starting. When it's go time don't work out in your pyjamas or with day-to-day clothes, although you won't be heading to the gym,

Enclothed cognition is a psychological phenomenon that suggests certain clothes may trigger mental changes that can impact performance positively. It helps in the time leading up to your scheduled work out to play some hardcore fitness or workout videos on your T.V. or computer.

These can really get you into the right mood to hit the iron as hard as you can with full motivation.(Make sure to prepare your favorite videos beforehand, don't spend time during your workout looking for videos on youtube.
