Megan's House

About: Tim Grover has an amazing story of a father’s loss and love. It's the story of Megan’s House. The nation's opioid epidemic is at an all-time high with countless people dying daily. Tim became the founder and 'father' of Megan's House in Lowell, MA, based on his personal tragedy of losing his daughter Megan to drug addiction in 2014. Tim had decided to create a long-term (the key to lasting sobriety) recovery home by building it himself. He closed on the property that is now known as Megan's House on the day of Megan's funeral. Megan was Tim’s inspiration to purchase a building and make it a home to provide therapeutic treatment and life skills to young women suffering from addiction. His experience in witnessing his daughter go through other rehabilitation programs led him to change the current philosophy of treatment centers to one of success.

Parents Opposed to Pot
About: Some of us smoked pot when we were teens in the '70s and '80s, even the early ’'90s. It was risky, which made it fun. We could act dumb, have a last hurrah before having to take life seriously. Our friends did it too, but in no way did the adults in our world condone it — not parents, not teachers, not our boss if we want to keep a job. The police might catch us. Our parents might ground us. We were at risk, so we didn't smoke all that much. What do kids nowadays face? It's socially acceptable and even the old guys smoke pot. Maybe some of these old hippies have been doing it for 40 or 50 years. 'If they're ok, then I'll be ok,' some kids say. Of course, if everyone does it, then it must be ok, they think.
