A white woman who called police after claiming that a young black boy touched her behind in a Brooklyn deli drew a storm of ridicule and criticism on social media, and late Friday she made a public apology to the child.
Critics characterized the incident as the latest example of a hypersensitive white person calling the police to report black people for dubious reasons. Many detractors imputed racist motives to the woman, Teresa Klein.
She was quickly labeled “Cornerstore Caroline." by Jason Littlejohn, 37, a lifelong Flatbush resident who recorded the commotion Wednesday outside the Sahara Deli Market on Albemarle Road. Littlejohn’s Facebook recording of the incident had been viewed 4 million times by Friday evening.
“I was just sexually assaulted by a child,." Klein is heard saying on the video as she was on the phone with the police. The boy, who is about 9, and another child burst into tears outside the store as bystanders confronted Klein about the incident. “The son grabbed my ass and she decided to yell at me,." Klein continued in the video, referring to his mother. The video was first reported by The New York Post.
Minutes after an event at a Manhattan Republican club meant to celebrate violence against leftists, attendees belonging to a proto-fascist, pro-Trump street gang reportedly pummeled three people on the sidewalk in Manhattan’s Upper East Side while shouting homophobic slurs.
“Do you feel brave now, faggot?." one of the attackers yelled, according to Bachom and another journalist, photographer Shay Horse. Another video shows multiple attackers yelling “faggot.."
HuffPo, being smear-meisters, calls the group “Pro-Trump” in its headline. I don’t recall any news source calling the antifa a “pro-Obama group” when it was running amuck punching people on Inauguration Day. Speaking of the antifa, here’s a tweet from a Portland journalist from October 8:
This is the type of street anarchy that routinely happens where I live. Here is video from 6 Oct showing Antifa directing traffic in downtown & threatening people who don’t obey with violence. Mayor , who really runs this town?
The difference is that I don’t recall hearing any Republican leaders calling for right-wing mobs to harass and beat up people. Do you?
3. No, Debbie, that’s not what a “fake doctor” is. Here’s GOP House seat that deserves a “blue wave”: Republican U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko’s orgainization has been putting up campaign signs calling her Democratic opponent, Hiral Tipirneni a “fake doctor.” Why? Dr. Tipirneni now works as an advocate instead of practicing medicine, as she did when she was an emergency room physician. That doesn’t mean her medical degree and license are invalid, however. Doctors don’t have to be healing people to stay doctors, just as lawyers don’t have to practice law to be lawyers. Are all the lawyers in Congress “fake lawyers”? Are Barack and Michelle Obama, and Bill and Hillary Clinton all fake lawyers? Am I? Is Howard Dean a “fake doctor”? Was novelist Michael Crighton?
After ARMPAC, the Arizona Medical Political Action Committee, which had endorsed her, met with Lesko and said they viewed the “campaign signs as an insult to the medical profession, discounting the education and training required of physicians to become licensed and credentialed,” she agreed to take down the misleading signs.
Lesko, however, is a genuine, bona fide, untrustworthy hack.
4. Now I’m going to check and see how many of my lawyer Facebook Left-wing echo-chamber friends fell for this one…
A single tweet described a SCOTUS decision this way, and was re-tweeted over 17,000 times:
From overlawyered:
1. Brakebill was not Justice Kavanaugh’s first ruling. If you so much as glance at the Court’s opinion, it’s hard to miss its second sentence: “JUSTICE KAVANAUGH took no part in the consideration or decision of this application.."
2. There is no indication that the vote was 5 to 4. Liberal Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Stephen Breyer did not join the dissent.*
3. Justice Ginsburg’s dissent contains no language even remotely like that put within quotation marks here. Her tone is technical rather than indignant, and she does not challenge anyone’s motives as illegitimate.
4. The Court did not issue a decision upholding the laws. It was a denial of an application to vacate a stay, not a ruling on the merits.
And we haven’t even gotten to the merits! Three and a half days after posting, its author has not seen fit to correct any of his errors.
Ugh. This is one more reason nobody should care about polls showing that “the public” opposed Kavanaugh’s confirmation. “The public” knows zip about the Court, its function, how it works, the justices, its history or the law, and what they think they know isn’t true.
