Upon beginning to grow our career or business, no matter the method, it is vital to observe, listen, and question what we don’t understand. Politely asking in your vocabulary, ‘Can you please explain the meaning to me?’ will put you on a better footing moving forward. Doing so demonstrates the following personality qualities that you possess: caring, the desire to learn, and a willingness to dig deep for greater understanding. These qualities generally encourage further business.
However, one other strategy serves us well for increasing awareness of our brand and attention to our offerings. It is almost ironic that the best sales strategy has nothing to do with pushing a sale, but everything to do with finding commonalities with prospective clientele and employers. The strategy is sharing stories in a friendly manner when a prospect, client, or future employer makes a statement that brings the unique story to mind. Moreover, people enjoy hearing and sharing how one overcame challenges that may provide them and others with hope and inspiration. The straightforward approach is to allow each conversation to flow naturally. Moreover, upon listening to a prospect or client speak and hearing them share words that remind you of an experience bringing about a smile, it’s wise to consider the following strategy:
As the person finishes their thoughts, kindly tell them that their experience reminds you of a previous one they might enjoy. Upon receiving the signal to go ahead, share the incident and the lesson you learned. The better types of stories bring about a smile and laughter, too. The underlying benefits include sharing laughter, realizing some commonality, and encouraging the conversation to move forward to find a suitable way for working together.
Although we typically view people in management as the ‘serious type,’ they are human and enjoy a good, appropriate laugh. Should the two-minute (or less) story apply to what they just shared, appreciation will typically be yours.
Stand Out but Don’t Stand Alone
It’s critical to stand out in our unique style to accomplish our goals. However, those who criticize others who work differently never fare well and might need to say farewell before they intend. The better approach is to be accepting of those with varying talents and ambitions and potentially find a way to support one another and possibly work together.
Social Media Output and Outreach
One example is building our network on social media platforms. By sharing our best online, it becomes easier to attract a similar-minded audience, but with varying expertise. And upon noting loyalty from another, it is wise to also check their work. As we realize admiration for their knowledge and how they display it, plus that of others as our reach expands, sharing their posts builds further synergy that increases over time.

Although our future is challenging to predict with 100% accuracy, we must hold on to our principles and ideals to achieve future success. And by not only sharing our achievements, but also the dire circumstances that led us onto a new path, we can and will inspire others willing to listen, and accordingly, will open new doors of opportunity never before seen.
