Former Atlantic City, NJ Branch 370 Vice President Matthew Elkins Dies

NALC is deeply saddened to learn of the death of former Atlantic City, NJ, Branch 370 Vice President and shop steward Matthew Elkins on Aug. 19, 2025, at the age of 46.

Brother Elkins was born in Egg Harbor City, NJ, where he spent his life and served his community as a letter carrier for over ten years. In addition to supporting his fellow letter carriers as a shop steward for six years, Elkins helped lead his branch as vice president for four years. Those who knew him recall his kindness and compassion, remembering him as a dedicated NALC member who was “well-respected among many carriers in this area due to his willingness to assist them with their grievances.”

Elkins is survived by his mother, Janice; father, George Sr.; brothers, George Jr. and Chris; nieces and nephews; Colleen and Amanda Keane; numerous other family and friends; and his cherished cat, Mango.

“NALC mourns the loss of Brother Elkins,” said NALC President Brian L. Renfroe. “On behalf of the NALC, I commend his years of devoted service to his branch and community, and I send our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues.”
