Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:

Vacation Plans Require Business Strategy

It’s Friday, almost a holiday, so I include a bit of humor in the title, ‘Vacation plans require business strategy.’ On the one hand, stress can take over due to the news of the many canceled flights and the lack of employees available. The large crowds waiting to board an airplane are equally unsettling, knowing that strains of COVID 19 are still in the air.

What does any of this have to do with business?

My Story

As one who used to travel frequently, the pandemic changed that for a very long while. In my youth, unfamiliar with formal business strategy, I would pack last minute and arrive at the airport last minute because air travel was far from popular. However, traditional thought kept me on track to change habits and my way of thinking to adapt to the new.

Most of the pre-sales training applies to business, too.

Research

Similar to researching our competition and new appointments online ahead of time, it’s good to explore our travel destination to prepare appropriately. For example, it’s good to research:

  • Weather
  • Activities available
  • Wardrobe to bring

Punctuality Translates to Goal Setting

In the former days, when all meetings were in person, I would arrive ten minutes early for appointments. It would give me time to greet the guard and the receptionist and review the awards each company earned plus the magazines to which they subscribe. The goal was to be current on what the company holds important to have a more in-depth conversation with the people agreeing to meet.

Similarly, arriving at the airport well ahead of time requires planning per packing, time allotment for arrival, and checking in. The goal is not to hear, ‘I’m sorry we gave your seat away.’

Demeanor

The other factor is that whether joining in on a video meeting, a networking event, or being in a crowd such as at the airport, maintaining a diplomatic demeanor is necessary. Workers are over-burdened, and it’s best to put ourselves mentally in their position before responding to something we don’t want to hear. Upon encountering rude people, it’s best to smile and step aside. Bringing something to entertain yourself helps considerably upon the need for time to pass until it’s time to board.

Long-Term Vision: Plans Require Business Strategy

Maintaining a long-term vision for what we want to accomplish is always good. Whether the thought is to travel the world or grow entrepreneurship into a Fortune 100 company, it can be done with a plan and taking proper actions to move the needle forward daily.

All plans require a business strategy, including diet, exercise, and sales. Unless we don’t care about achieving something, it’s always best to have a long-term vision and goals with milestones in place for our ultimate achievement. Even better is to be willing to improve our results on an ongoing basis.

Your Story:

Many have altered their plans for what they want to achieve and will do it over time. It’s always best to be on top of current activities and admit what is working well and what needs to be refined or replaced. It’s always best to rid yourself of old habits and procedures that no longer produce as you desire.

If you are looking forward to a vacation, return with a big smile, fondly remembering your trip. The last thing you want is to face aggravation over things gone wrong due to a lack of proper planning. By applying the planning suggestions above, you will avoid regret for not having the time to do something you initially hoped to do. At the same time, make arrangements for the help you may need at home while you are gone. As with business, ask for help before it’s too late.

In Conclusion:

It is always helpful to use business strategy when creating new plans no matter the occasion. We do best when timeliness and planning what we want transform into the result we desire, and we can celebrate the outcome.
