About: At age 14, Jeremiah Bourgeois became one of the youngest children in the United States to be sentenced to life without parole. He was freed after 27 years due to the US Supreme Court's decision in Miller v. Alabama (2012), and six months later he became a law student at Gonzaga University School of Law. While confined, he wrote articles in law journals, was cited as secondary authority by an intermediate appellate court, became a columnist for a criminal justice news site, and was the first imprisoned person to become a member of Scribes--The American Society of Legal Writers.
