In this session of Great Work Insights Podcast, Todd Nordstrom speaks with Tim Sanders, a strategic consultant to brands, associations and government agencies. Previously, Sanders was the CEO of tech startup Net Minds and Chief Solutions Officer at Yahoo and also serving as its leadership coach. In addition, Sanders has authored three books, including: ?Love Is The Killer App: How to Win Business & Influence Friends?, ?The Likeability Factor? and ?Today We Are Rich: Harnessing the Power of Total Confidence?. You will learn:- The resume system is broken–people are using it as a first basis instead of a well developed interview.
- Hire for fit, not resume fitness.
- New app (Good.Co) that can see if applicants are a good fit for the company culture based on a personality quiz.
- Companies need a resume, not the other way around.
- Understanding the new working generation (millennials).
- Companies need to be much better about making it easy for Gen Y to understand the ?why? for joining the company. Corporations can accomplish this by creating videos and corporate resumes of why they want millennial applicants to join their organization.
- Corporations need to get over their enterprise ego.
- Change is driven by money. Doing the right thing is always a good trigger for action, doing the ?rich? thing is a great trigger for action. You have to do both.
- 25-200 rule: anything companies do to decrease customers time to decide by 25% increases sales by 200%.
- Job seekers: look for a friendly referral–find the right work system that makes you happy
- We?re all micro publishers of our little publishing networks, so it?s never been easier to ask for referrals.
