America's leading media expert Michael Levine says the WNBA is committing "slow-motion public-relations suicide" by refusing to answer one of the simplest questions in human history: What is a woman?

Former NBA player and human-rights activist Enes Kanter Freedom was removed from Sunday night's Chicago Sky–Indiana Fever game following a heated interaction with Sky guard Natasha Cloud. The incident unfolded after Cloud made a third-quarter layup and appeared to direct comments toward Freedom, who was seated near the baseline.

Sky players and personnel restrained Cloud as Freedom stood, extended his arms, and walked toward her. The precise cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but Freedom has become an outspoken participant in the national debate over transgender athletes competing in women's sports.

"The WNBA was created to celebrate and elevate female athletes," said Levine, founder of Boundless Media USA and author of Authentic PR. "Yet its leadership now behaves as though defining 'female' requires a team of philosophers, lawyers and political consultants. That is not courage. It is corporate cowardice wearing expensive sneakers."

Levine said the league's continued avoidance of the biological issue alienates many parents, fans and female athletes who believe women's sports deserve clear protections.

"When an organization refuses to define the very people it exists to serve, it has abandoned its mission," Levine added. "The WNBA should establish a transparent, biology-based eligibility policy, enforce civil conduct and stop treating reasonable questions as acts of political aggression."

Levine concluded: "Authenticity is the new credibility. Until the WNBA speaks honestly, every controversy will become another self-inflicted wound."
