The commonality of pandemic, supply chain shortages, “great resignation/quietly quitting,” fears of climate disaster, Ukraine, uncertain immigration policies, unreliable and biased news sources, polarization, and excessive “woke” demands is a perceived loss of control. I think it’s the great problem of this age, and it’s often undermining self-worth. Hence, people fall victim to confirmation bias and the safety of a “tribe” of common believers.
If you see colleagues around you running away, don’t fall victim to the normative pressure and run yourself. Stand your ground. It’s not a real wind hitting you, It’s just the scent of fear.
