FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Can a song and book become a rallying cry or call to action about the many problems we need to fix today? That's what Are We All Right? is all about. It details a number of things that are wrong in our society in America and how we need to make changes to fix the problems. The lyrics point up problems with crime, junkies, gangs, homelessness, bank fraud, insurance rates, oil spills, forest destruction, and global warming that have been getting worse over the last few decades.
Ironically, the song was first written in 1994 and with only a few minor tweaks, such as listing our enemy as Al Qaeda, rather than the Commies, the song's message shows that nothing has changed. Society is still facing the same threats today, along with some new ones in the form of a collapsing economy and health crisis due to the pandemic.
Thus, now the song and book have become a battle call to action about the many problems we need to fix today. As the song describes, it's important to act quickly. We literally have to change the game with new rules, since otherwise we seem to be heading to a certain disaster. So we have to do something to fix these problems before it's too late.
For example, the first verse begins:
We've got crime in the streets.
We've got junkies down the hall.
We've got homeless in the doorways,
Panhandlers on the mall.
And the chorus starts this way:
But we're all right.
We're all right.
Yeah, that's what they tell us.
Now we're all right.
