Never take just one approach to communicating your important ideas. Create multiple “channels” to get ideas across to more people, in more ways.

To re-purpose an old idea to a new one that meets the needs of your audience is the height of creativity and innovation Steve Supple

Idea_woman_business_figure_pop_out_briefcase_lightbulb_800_clr_18715Thirty years ago, we started executive coaching before most people had ever heard of executive coaching. It evolved to meet a need. We tested many things to see what worked and did not work. The coaching process we developed has worked very well for executives; some of whom have traveled from the far reaches of the globe for coaching.

A new channel

A decade ago, Carol Keers was a driving force for the idea of capturing many of our key concepts in a book that would reach a wider audience. When we wrote “Seeing Yourself As Others Do- Authentic Executive Presence at Any Stage of Your Career“, our intent was to reach the next level down in customers’ companies. We were reshaping the ideas into a book format. Much to our surprise, our book sold well around the world, and we sold many thousands more copies than we expected. We are now in our third printing. We won an award for independently published business books. The ideas were successfully distributed into a new channel.

The book created many requests from people for more coaching. They could not afford the tens of thousands of dollars for our normal coaching. Most of the requests were from our global audience outside of the USA. We started looking for ways we could effectively reach them in a cost effective way.

Another New Channel

We are now building Change Masters Academy to reach that audience. It has been very powerful and energizing to put information we’ve acquired over several decades to new use. We have found ways to capture much of the coaching room experience for a broader, global audience as another channel for our ideas. When we started, we really did not know what we were doing. We tried things. Some worked and others did not.  We learned and moved forward.

You can find new ways for your ideas to come to life, too.  You can change the way you market yourself and your ideas.  You can be the one who finds a new way to extend ideas.

Client Example

One client was an expert in operations security. She had worked around the world. She took the initiative to create a global network in her company to meet monthly on WebEx to share ideas and support each other. She created videos that provided training to many of her peers with less experience. It was her specialty locally, and she was able to expand her reach globally.

Too often people limit their scope in terms of what they can or should do. We need to look for the combination of two ideas that can create new innovations. Moving into that uncertainty is powerful and energizing.  Think of new ways to re-purpose your ideas and/or skills to create a innovation.
