We’re lying low and taking some time off until early August, so now seems like a good time to go into the archives and highlight some of the more popular posts from the past. The following are the six most viewed posts – in descending order – on the Tagoras blog for the past quarter. (Those of you who doubt the value of blogging should note that some of these were actually published years ago and continue to draw significant traffic to our Web site.)
Here’s the quick link list, followed by brief comments on each:
Learning Management System Pricing
It seems that folks are forever wondering how much it will cost for their organization to implement an LMS. This is understandable: pricing for learning management systems has traditionally been all over the map, though fortunately the general trend has been downward. It’s important to keep in mind that the figures cited in this post are averages. There are lower cost options than these, and there are also much higher cost options. That said, our experience in doing a great deal of learning platform selection work has been that these average are a pretty reliable guide.

We published this at the end of 2012, heading in into 2013, but the trends cited here remain the key ones impacting the market for lifelong learning. We’ve since published free resources on a number of these trends, and you will find links to them in this post.

Pricing is something many organizations wrestle with, and how to price online education seems to be a particularly difficult issue. Our view is that you need to consider
all educational products (a) in the context of your broader market, as well as (b) in the context of your own portfolio and the
value ramp it represents. This post lays out the foundations of
why we think this way and, of course, offers some pointers specific to pricing online education.

This is the post in which we announced one of our most recent – and, as it turned out, most popular – white papers. In it, we give our take on some of the most important emerging trends in the world of lifelong learning and continuing education and also offer up a number of examples of how associations are embracing these trends – to the extent that they are. If you don’t have the white paper yet, you will want to be sure to click through and download it – no $$ or e-mail address required.

This is the first in a series of six articles that explore how to position your education business beyond the competition. If you aren’t familiar with the concept of
Blue Ocean Strategy, the series provides a solid introduction. If you are familiar with it, you’ll find some concrete ideas for how to apply it to your continuing education business.

This article describes a deceptively simple distinction that exposes the confusion in the many associations’ strategies. We were surprised, but certainly pleased at how popular it has been as we feel it is among the most important posts we have published on the blog. Read it. Think about it. Be decisive.
