Martie Garcia from Pearson Education Receives the Star Developer Award

"The Star Developer Awards recognize individuals who help others grow, learn, and become leaders," said Shawn Kent Hayashi, founder of The Professional Development Group and author of Conversations for Creating Star Performers. "By being an outstanding mentor, manager, leader, or guide to others, we develop our future leaders as star performers."

The Professional Development Group, a leadership development consulting firm, acknowledged five executives who received the 2012 Star Developer awards in recognition of their work to develop future leaders. Martie Garcia, vice president people development for Pearson Education, was one of the five recipients.

Darlene Feldick, senior vice president human resources, Pearson Education, presented a 2012 Star Developer Award to Martie Garcia on October 3. Ms. Feldick said she nominated Martie Garcia for this award because of her "positive attitude, doesn't say we can't do this, but we'll just have to start with a small pilot plan. Martie takes on leadership and development in North America with no hesitation and developed Pearson Education's Leadership and Management program for our global company."
