Radical Islamist terrorists have taken sides, joining Russian
and Ukrainian troops, and ending up fighting each other. It’s
the new ‘counterterrorism’! Indeed, Ukraine has become a
war zone – not just for Russian and Ukrainian troops – but
for seemingly anyone who wants a cause (or excuse) to
fight: a socially acceptable reason to kill or be killed (like
’suicide by cop’).

Representatives from Russia and Ukraine just met in
Turkey, and seemed to arrive at a glimmer of hope for
progress in resolving the war. Ironically, however, Turkish
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is simultaneously rallying
Turks in the EU to “work harder” to advance “the causes of
Allah.” Just like Putin wants to reconstitute the USSR,
Erdogan’s ambition of global conquest comes in the form
of a revived Ottoman Empire.

Soon after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, various terrorist
groups – starting with a Twitter account associated with
Al Qaeda – began debating whether to enter the war – and
on whose side. You will hear about 5 different terrorist
groups and why they are fighting for Russia, Ukraine or
both at the same time. And there are reports of white
supremacists and Nazis, who are also divided as to
which side they join. Unfortunately, Ukraine has become
the new hub for transnational terror, which may continue
even after the invasion has resolved.

Meanwhile, terrorists from the Middle East and Africa, are
causing collateral damage by mixing with refugees fleeing
Ukraine, and lying about their identity in order to cross
illegally into European countries kind enough to welcome
the refugees. Terrorists are also sneaking into the shelters
of these refugees to rape the women and children, causing
them to want to return to Ukraine!
