Halloween Recipe: Chocolate Cut-Out Cookies

What’s better than baking some spooky cookies to complete the Halloween experience?

These cookies are very versatile as the cookie cutter can determine for what holiday you could bake these. On Halloween, a cookie cutter in the shape of a man or circle will work perfectly, as you can add white frosting to make a skeleton or ghostly cookies. Here are the ingredients and directions on how you can bake Halloween cookies.

  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3 eggs

  • 10 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tubes of white frosting

Directions

  1. Cream butter or margarine and sugar together until it is light and fluffy; add eggs, one at a time, and beat well. Mix in the vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder; add and mix well. Wrap dough in waxed paper and chill for 2 hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  3. Divide dough in half. Roll out each half to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with desired shaped cookie cutters. Draw skeletons or ghosts on the cookies with the white frosting.
