In a recent Hyrox competition, an elite athlete “soiled herself” in an indoor venue where competitors used common equipment. With feces trailing down her leg, she did not withdraw (and won the competition). In so doing, of course, she created a significant public health hazard and a lot of the competitors and audience complained that she remained in the competition and that officials did not remove her. This “voiding” is not unusual in long-distance races, for example. but ignoring it in an indoor facility is quite unusual.

The original marathon run was to deliver an urgent message about the defeat of a Persian army. That was critical no matter what the messenger did or endured.

Winning a damn trophy is not.
