Q9 Consulting announces that Q9's president and forensic document examiner, Mike Wakshull, has been invited to speak at the California Alliance of Paralegal Association's (CAPA) annual conference in Riverside California on June 25. Last year Mr. Wakshull presented four seminars as the entire forensics track at the CAPA conference in San Jose.

This year's presentation is, "will courtroom bias cost you your next case?" The seminar has been approved by the California State Bar for one hour of elimination of bias MCLE credit. This presentation which uses real courtroom examples as case studies has been delivered at the La Jolla Bar Association and the San Diego Law Library.

Bias in the courtroom is a prevalent problem. Bias exists in all people. The ability to recognize your biases and the biases of your opponent can save or lose your case.

Black's Law Dictionary Ninth Edition identifies four types of bias in the courtroom: Actual Bias, Advocate's Bias, Judicial Bias, and Implied Bias. Not on the list of biases is "Expert Witness Bias." As a legal professional a responsibility is to recognize whether your expert witness is succumbing to unconscious biases that will be exposed in deposition or trial. We all have biases, learn to overcome yours and deliver a foolproof testimony.

This presentation introduces the four forms of courtroom biases plus expert witness bias. You learn how to recognize these biases in yourself, your expert witness, and the opposition.
