Delaware singer-songwriter Ann Ramsey has released her first single, The Public Enemya protest song that takes aim at the excesses of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The song is available on all major music streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and Amazon, as well as YouTube.

As has been noted in the media recently, the actions of DOGE have led to terminations of career cival servants without cause or warning.

A retired federal employee herself, Ms. Ramsey reached into her own sometimes difficult experiences working on Capitol Hill under the first Trump Administration, and also into stories shared with her from her former colleagues about what is happening now.

"It's awful to feel your work denigrated and your integrity impugned by those who neither understand, nor care to learn, the value of government work, she said, "I can't do anything about what is happening, but I can write a song, and I can sing and play it.

At the song's beginning, the singer recounts how she has been proud to serve the public, but now discovers that "the X-man deems us government surplus,"scattership damnation. With her job taken away, and lies about government workers running rampant, she rails against the injustice with confusion: "Have the ones I served turned on me? Am I the people's enemy? Democracy, I've been devout — Don't send the hounds to flush me out,she cries. The song's lyrics beg the question, who is the real public enemy?

"The country needs to hear how it feels to federal workers who have lost their jobs for no legitimate reason, said prominent singer-songwriter John Gorka, "Not a lot of singer-songwriters have the perspective and the musical ability to tell that story as Ann does."

Singer-songwriter Sloan Wainwright praised The Public Enemy for its "beautiful and powerful message.

The song was produced by Kyle Swartzwelder of Black Forest Sound in Glenside, Penn.
