It seems that the modern world brings with the technology and advancements an increase in conditions and syndromes not seen before, or at least in the intensity and percentage of population. This is certainly true of fibromyalgia, which in a condition with lots of pain in specific spots or points in the body. Many doctors don't think it exists while others see it as a condition. If you're one of the individuals that suffer with fibromyalgia pain, then you know it's real, whether or not doctors will agree with you.

Arthritis has been around for centuries although it is more prevalent because we are living longer. A century ago the life span of most individuals was in the 50s with a few living longer. Today, our lifespan is expected into the 70s or even 80s, so more are suffering with arthritis. However, another form of arthritis is Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), which is a long-term disease that leads to inflammation of the joints and surrounding tissues as it principally attacks flexible, synovial joints. It affects more than 2 million Americans, mostly women. This chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder may also affect many tissues and organs.

While we can know all these facts, it doesn't help the pain. One living with constant pain gets worn down, exhausted, and exasperated. We can turn to over the counter pain pills, but those come with side effects that increase over time. So the more you use them, the greater the possible side effects.

I remember working on an 80+ year old adorable lady with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She had developed gastro intestinal problems from all the pain medicines and now lived with irritable bowels as well as painful, swollen, disfiguring joints. On this particular day, her knees were hurting her the most. So in addition to a Bowen treatment, I used the hybrid device that includes low level laser light and electrical stimulation frequency.

These two modalities are gentle for even the most painful conditions. As she relaxed into my treatment table, I began to work on her low back and knees, remembering that any problems in the legs will have a connection to the low back and hips since that's were it all connects. When she let out a sigh of relief I knew her pain threshold was changing and relief was near. During this time, I also explained how easy it was to use some of these techniques on yourself. She was amazed to learn that there's a lot one can do for themselves when one knows how and have the right tools.

The effectiveness of the hybrid laser device is because it activates ATP in the cells. ATP is adenosine triphosphate, which is often called the molecular unit of currency. This is what our cells use to as energy: to grow, to work, to clean and to take care of our body. So when a treatment can increase one's ATP, then the affected cells can more effectively do their job. In the cases of arthritis and fibromyalgia, it opens up the muscles and releases tension and stress.

Perhaps one of the most rewarding parts of my practice is helping others become capable of doing more things for themselves because they have workable knowledge and the right tools or techniques to do the right job for the situation at hand. Recently I received an email from a client, "Just a note to thank you again for your treatment. It is by far the best thing that has happened to me. I have tried many treatments and until I tried you, my pain came back after a short time. It was such a painless treatment. Thank you and keep up your healing and helping others. Sincerely, Cheri"

Seeking help from many approaches helps each one find a method that helps them the best. Quality of life gives one the opportunity to enjoy all the things they love: work, play, family and friends. It's important to not settle for living with pain, when there are many ways to get relief and help.
