A client of mine, Rob Allegar, who's a tech wiz, points out that AI is too often used as merely an information source to look things up, rather than used in its truly brilliant capacity as an analyst. I call this “encyclopedia vs. tutor.”It's one thing to look up the dates of the French Revolution, but it's another to ask, “What is the best conversational technique to use with a prospective buyer during our first meeting?” Or to ask, “Explain what ‘critical thinking skills' are and how to apply them under time pressure?” (You can ask AI: Alan Intelligence® these questions on my site.)If you'd agree that it's a vital tutor or mentor or coach, then I'd ask another very fundamental question: Are you using it to catch fish for yourself or to enable you to catch fish? The former is about lethargy and the reasonable fear that AI might take over. (I'm dumbfounded by people who can't do math in their heads these days.) The latter is about mastering our own fate with the help of a brilliant teacher.Pogo: I have met the enemy and he is us.(For Rob's newsletter go to https://insights.roballegar.com/)
