How to get Red Carpet Hair Results
Healthy Hair and Red Carpet Results start with a few basics like nutrition, time management and nourishing hair and scalp.

Red Carpet Hair and healthy looking results are there for everyone whether you’re a celebrity or not.

Here are 3 tips for healthy, shiny, radiant Red Carpet Hair:

  1. Start with the Scalp
  2. Proper Nutrition
  3. Time Management

I decided long ago that I wanted my work (and my products) to be approachable. I wanted my hair services and my hair products to benefit my customers and to help demystify the world of Hollywood beauty by making the best hair products and tips easily available online. I’ve been able to do that with my hair care line Gloss & Toss®.  So in this post I want to share 3 ideas (in 3 areas) that can help us have healthier hair and scalp from the inside out. These 3 beauty tips are: Proper Hair Care, Diet and Nutrition, and Time Management.  What a combination but here goes.

Start with the Scalp

I’ve always believed healthy, radiant, shiny hair starts with a healthy scalp. But are we taking care of our scalp? Not just topically but in our diets, or where we work or play? If you hold tension in your scalp area, are you taking time for rest and relaxation to destress and detox the scalp area? A nice massage is a great treatment for yourself or a friend and can help loosen muscles, stimulate circulation, exfoliate and treat the scalp area leaving you feeling revived. I believe even these such things contribute to healthy, shiny hair. Yes, even if you hold stress in your head. And remember Grandmother used to say 100 brushes a day makes hair healthy, shiny and strong? There is a lot of truth to that as well.  See my post thoughts on LiveStrong.com by clicking here; 9 Things To Do for Amazing Hair.

Hair and Scalp Healing Oil for hair moisture
Gloss & Toss Hair & Scalp Healing Oil as seen on Hallmark’s Home and Family has been named a top beauty must-have and holiday gift guide best.

The Gloss & Toss Hair and Scalp Healing Oil helps contribute to healthy hair and scalp. Try a soothing scalp massage by applying a few drops of this all natural hair oil to palms and massaging the scalp area for a few minutes. This helps stimulate circulation, detox the scalp area, and provides a soothing treatment. Or try a deep conditioning treatment by adding 5-10 drops of our Hair and Scalp Healing Oil to the Daily Nourish Conditioner for an added moisture boost.  Leave on for 5-10 minutes and wrap under a warm wet towel for a more intense moisture treatment. This helps replicate heat-applied treatments you might receive in the hair salon.  Your scalp needs the same TLC that your skin does especially if it’s to support the life of your hair.

Proper Nutrition for Healthy Hair and Scalp:

Would you believe that healthy hair and scalp can begin internally. In fact we can make a daily choice in our lives to help ourselves (and our hair and scalp) get well now. Why wait 30 days for gorgeous hair results like the ads say? Why wait a week when you can start seeing and achieving instant results in your hair care today? Well, perhaps it takes a little while for our internal systems to start producing external results, but we can make a difference, we can feel better and experience a healthier lifestyle and I believe the results show up “head to toe” in our overall wellness.

So I called on a dear friend Dr. Meg Haworth, health and wellness expert and nutritional celebrity chef in Los Angeles for advice.  She shared a few tips especially during a busy Red Carpet Beauty season here in Hollywood. But in those red carpet photos where hair and makeup seem so flawless, how does one stay hydrated and nourished internally while managing external beauty and wellness? Dr. Meg says: “Drink an organic green smoothie every day.  You can make a pitcher of them, put them in individual travel mugs and grab them on the go.”

Here’s an easy organic green smoothie recipe that I have my celebrity chef clients drink on set.Superfood green smoothie for nutrition and wellness

Dr. Meg’s Super Power Green Smoothie
  • 3 Kale leaves
  • 1 handful fresh spinach
  • 1 handful raw almonds
  • 1 thumb sized fresh ginger root
  • ½ organic granny smith or Fuji apple
  • 1 handful blueberries
  • ½ avocado
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder (or fresh root)
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Dash of black pepper (to help the turmeric absorb)
  • Filtered water covering 2/3’s of blender pitcher

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend thoroughly for at least one minute to ensure smooth, delicious results (I recommend top quality high-speed blenders not just for this recipe, but for all of your cooking needs).

When finished blending or processing, serve this delicious and healthy treat in “to-go” cups or an airtight thermos and refrigerate to have on hand. Enjoy one a day for up to 4 days. Please note that many fruits and vegetables carry large amounts of cancer causing (pesticide) residue. In this recipe the greens, apples and berries are among those so be sure to shop for organic ingredients in this and other recipes.

Dr. Meg also shared that organic green smoothies are great for:

  • An afternoon pick me up, packed with plant based nutrition for energy
  • A natural skin tightener with nutritional anti-aging properties
  • Good fats for a healthy scalp and hair
  • Weight loss with fat burning foods that make you feel full and satisfied

Time Management for Healthy Hair and Scalp:

Stay with me here. Often times, life gets busy and we get “caught up” with all that we have to do and we forget about us, or we, or me. So what does time management have to do with beauty? Janet Taylor is a professional organizer with a stellar career in keeping people organized and on point personally and professionally.

In order for us to maintain healthy hair as well as look pulled together when we walk out the front door,” says Taylor, “there are routines and systems we need to incorporate into our schedule when it comes to hair care.”  Here are a few of her suggestions:

1.      Allow for adequate time in the mornings for hair grooming to ensure you leave the house on time.  Some styles make take a few minutes while others make take longer.

2.      Before you go to sleep schedule time for hair maintenance.  That could include moisture treatments or pinning hair up

3.      Schedule time to organize all the tools you need to maintain your healthy hair. This will help you keep track of what you have and what needs to be replaced to maintain that healthy mane.

4.      When you take something out of a drawer, take a few minutes to put it back so you can find it the next time you need it.

5.      Schedule time each season to review your inventory to ensure you have the proper tools and products to keep your hair healthy.
