This past weekendwas splendid!

• ThePhillies and the Eagles won.

• The amazingteen-age Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz—who has mesmerized us since we stumbled ontohis Barcelona win in April—won the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament in New York afterthree exhausting 5-hour matches and catapulted to #1 in the world.

• I traveledextensively with my current tour company of record (YouTube). The journey: Iwent via virtual First Class to such favorite destinations as London, Scotland,Gibraltar and elsewhere. My search: to be present at the Proclamation Ceremonies thatcertified the long-serving Prince of Wales has indeed become King Charles III.

Before I handyou the keys to be "up close and personal" at these splendid Certification ceremonies, may I suggestwe remember the saga of incoming President Joe Biden. What happened at theU.S. Capitol and the lengths to which the angry and dangerous MAGAs wentin their attempt to subvert the electoral process was (and is) appalling. Can we ever forget thehangman's noose and chants of "Hang Pence!" Always remember the "STOP THE STEAL"signs, the fury, the hatred, the violence, the deaths, the shouting thetrashing of the U.S. Capitol building that horrific January 6th. The images willbe etched in our collective memories till death do us part.

•From our beginnings, the American certification of the election of President and Vice-president is asecret, seedy unsupervised ritual held in the dreary bowels of the U.S. Capitolout of sight of the electorate.

•It is a gross insult to all winning candidates who collectively spend billions ofdollars to get elected.

•In the United Kingdom, the certification of office holders—whether elected orhereditary—is a huge source of national pride. These are grand public events withreadings of the Proclamation in ceremonies held in every territory, city, townand village throughout the Commonwealth.

•I suggest Congress and the President declare the third Tuesday in November tobe designated a national a holiday, Confirmation Day. Two weeks should be plenty of time for all votes to be counted.

• Confirmation Day should be a grand celebration of free electionswith fireworks and speeches by federal, state and local political winners throughoutthe land in states, cities and towns—reaffirming their campaign promises and profferingthanks to all who voted them into office.
