Charlie Sheen & Duh…..Detroit

Well, what did you expect....?

by Cynthia Shelby-Lane, MD

I'm a doctor and a comedienne. So, I enjoy entertainment. Even if it's BAD. Real Bad.

Like Charlie Sheen in Detroit.

Anyway, I decided to buy a ticket to the "sold out" Charlie Sheen show at the Fabulous Fox theater for his opening show (I mean focus group and rehearsal).  I purchased  tickets for a good/great seat on the day of the event.  Orchestra Pit.   Hmmmmmmm. I thought this show was "SOLD OUT".

ANYWAY, I didn't know what to expect. No one did. Neither did his producers.

Therefore, I had "No real expectations".  Nothing more than what I had seen on TV, over and over again.

That's what I paid for and that's exactly what we got. No script. No comedic structure. No performance art.

Low and behold, that's what we all got in Detroit. Video of 20/20 and a UN programmed uncrafted, randomly put together show.  And more video of a young Johnny Depp. who cares.  Then. "What do you guys want to talk about....my accident or crack cocaine?"

Duh......Just Random Ranting.

Remember, I bought a ticket to the "sold out show" on Saturday morning, and I was seated in the 8th row, orchestra Pit. Great seat, Real close.

Marketing scheme.

The audience in Detroit, as most audiences, expected a real show.  We are sophisticated and we know real entertainment.  Motown. Supremes. Michael Jackson. Aretha, Temptations. Eminem....and on and on....

Charlie Sheen is a screen actor. He is not an improv  artist, a performance artist or a comedian.

He can't handle hecklers, and he acted like any failing  screen actor.   He put up his hands for a "time out", then he left the stage.  "Boo".   Comedians just take the tomatoes.  "Crazy people act crazier. Sheen left the stage.

Sheen is not crazy. He's broke. He's unemployed. He's a drug addict.  Who pays to see drug addicts?……Duh ….. America.

Poor management and lame writers/producers. I'm sure they got paid lots of money to create an act.  They failed and they blamed Detroit.  I have created over 40 improv shows, so I know what  it takes,  and it lots of real hard work. These guys just threw Charlie Sheen under the bus.

Duh….April fools. Detroit. From Sheen and his useless producers.

And where was the special guest, Snoop Dog. Far, far, away at a children's Nickelodeon Show getting "slimed". That's better than getting , "booed" in Detroit.

My spin: I am willing to help Sheen produce his next show. That's the least I can do with my skills and talent. After all I'm a doctor and I love helping people and patients…duh… Charlie Sheen (CS).. Maybe I'll just do my own show...(Cynthia Shelby..CS)..

I like ranting too.
