Yes, He Can: For the 44th President, A Stop Smoking Program

Everybody is preparing for Barack Obama's inauguration as the 44th President of the United States on January 20, 2009. It is a stressful time for planners. Millions of visitors to Washington, D.C., are expected for the 56th inaugural ceremony and parade.

?President-elect Obama and his transition team are doing a great job coping with the stress of preparing for the inauguration,? says clinical psychologist Bruce N. Eimer, Ph.D. ?And while preparing to assume the duties of the toughest job in the world, Obama admitted that he has not totally kicked his habit of smoking cigarettes.?

?I know it is tough, but I would like to help,? says Dr. Eimer, who is also a clinical hypnotist and hypnotherapist and heads up the Hypnosis Help Center of Philadelphia. For more than 20 years, his clinical psychology practice has been helping people unlearn the smoking habit and stop smoking using the tools of clinical hypnosis and behavior therapy. ?Because smoking is a learned behavior, that is, a habit, it can be unlearned,? he says. ?Even the President can do it. Yes, he can.?

In light of this, Dr. Eimer has sent his Best Stop Smoking With Hypnosis audio program to the Obama-Biden Transition Office in Washington, D.C. Once the new president and his family have moved to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Dr. Eimer will also be sending his proven program to the White House, where smoking is officially prohibited.

?We all admit that smoking is unhealthy,? Dr. Eimer says. ?Second hand smoke is also poison -- not only for the president, but also for the first lady and first family. All will benefit when President Obama stops smoking for good.?

Here's what is heard on the tapes to help stop smoking, as part of a mantra or repeated affirmations:

-- For you, but more so for your body, cigarettes are poison . . .

-- You need your body to live and be well . . .

-- Therefore, to the extent to which you want to live a comfortable life and be well, you need to have a healthy body . . .

-- To have a healthy body and a strong immune system capable of fighting disease and managing stress, you need to stop putting poison into your body.

-- That means you need to stop smoking cigarettes for good.

-- To the extent to which you are for having a healthy body and for staying well, you must take a stand against smoking cigarettes . . .
