Recently @iHire released their New State of Online Recruiting Report. As you can imagine recruiting is changing as fast as AI is, for better or worse.
iHire’s report takes a deep dive into the trends and tech influencing how employers and candidates connect.
A few trends are red flags for me.
Red flag 1: The Talent DisconnectThere’s a big disconnect between what employers say in their job ads and job descriptions vs. what candidates actually hear.
Employers might think they’re selling flexibility and a great culture, but candidates often feel like their resume is just sitting somewhere in a pile (in the cloud).
Red flag 2: Candidate Expectations Have ChangedGen Z are looking for more than a straight paycheck. They want to know your company’s
purpose and how their job will fit in. They also want to know how you treat people, and how you’re activating true well-being into your culture.
If these items are not communicated clearly, they lose interest.
Red flag 3: Retention Starts at RecruitingRetention starts with the very first touch point, recruiting. From the first job post to the first interview and everything in between, candidates are picking up signals about whether they really want to work for you.
And though AI can make the process faster (especially for candidate sourcing), the real differentiator is the HUMAN connection.
Remember the HUMANS!
If you want to recruit to retain in the age of AI, focus less on filling positions quickly, and more on building relationships that last. That’s how you’ll hire for retention and that is how you’ll
banish burnout before it starts.
