Today’s weekend roundup offers 10 options for things to between Christmas and New Year’s. Whether you are staying in town with family, or getting together with friends, here are things to do in Georgetown and D.C. this holiday break. Wishing you the merriest! - See The Grinch
The crabby green guy is visiting D.C. for some post-Christmas fun at the National Theatre. “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical” runs from December 30 through January 4 and is a great option for getting the family out of the house for some fun during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. More information on tickets can be found here. - Check Out the Capital Jewish Museum
 Courtesy Capital Jewish Museum. The museum has a family day on December 25 called “CJM: Wrapped in Tradition.” It will include Chinese food and a screening of the 1986 animated movie “An American Tail.” Guests can also explore the ongoing exhibits through a holiday themed exhibition guide (don’t miss “LGBT Jews in the Federal City” before it closes January 4!) and record a family story and add it to the museum’s oral history archive.  Courtesy Choral Arts. On December 24 at 11 a.m. at the Kennedy Center’s Concert Hall, Choral Arts is performing their popular “A Family Christmas” show. At just one hour, it’s the perfect concert for children ages 5+. Artistic director and conductor Marie Bucoy-Calavan and Choral Arts will be performing holiday classics perfect for kids and Santa, Frosty, The Grinch and Rudolph will all be stopping by.  Courtesy Washington Harbour. Georgetown’s very own ice rink is open for business! Take friends and family for a round of skating with gorgeous views of the Potomac River, Kennedy Center, Key Bridge and of course historic Georgetown. There are skate rentals available, and skating is in 90-minute intervals. More information can be found here.
- See Hinckley Pottery’s Holiday Show
 Photo by Robert Devaney. Another wonderful in-town option is checking out Hinckley Pottery’s Holiday Show, which is on display through January 31. The show is the first in five years and will celebrate the legacy of the late master potter Jill Hinckley. Ceramic work will be on display during studio hours. More information can be found here.
- See Monty Alexander at Blues Alley
 Courtesy Georgetown BID. Jazz great Monty Alexander will be at Blues Alley December 26 through December 30 for evening shows nightly. Jazz pianist Alexander is known as a true champion of The Great American Songbook and Jamaican jazz. More information on how to get tickets to his shows can be found here.
- Try the Winter Skate Spectacular at the National Building Museum
 Courtesy DowntownDC BID. Prefer to skate indoors? You’ll want to try the National Building Museum’s Winter Skate Spectacular, which opens December 27 and runs through February 8. Guests can ice skate indoors during various daytime, evening and after-hours skate sessions. There are theme nights scheduled too, like January 1, which is 2000s hits night.  Robert Knudsen, White House/John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The White House Historical Association’s The People’s House: A White House Experience is hosting a special exhibit called “Home, History, Holidays: Celebrating White House Traditions” through January 10. The exhibit includes holiday-themed stories and content that show festive White House traditions through the years. More information can be found here.
- See the classic ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ at Signature Theatre
 Courtesy Signature Theatre. Now through January 25, the musical Fiddler on the Roof is at Signature Theatre. The show is staged in-the-round inside Signature’s cozy theater and is directed by Joe Calarco. Take the whole family to enjoy classic songs like “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” and “Matchmaker.” More information on tickets can be found here. - Check Out Some Serious Gingerbread Houses

This year, Georgetown introduced a new holiday tradition with the debut of the Georgetown Gingerbread House Competition, a community initiative that brought together some of the neighborhood’s best culinary wizards to raise funds for the Marine’s Toys for Tots Foundation.
