‘Some Like It Hot’ Dances into The National Theatre

The Chicago-set musical during the Prohibition era “Some Like It Hot” is at the National Theatre now through December 7. The show was the winner of four Tony Awards, including Best Choreography and Best Costumes, and it also won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. Strathmore Kicks Off the Holiday Season

Get ready for a weekend of festive fun at the Music Center at Strathmore. Manheim Steamroller is stopping by Friday evening for a concert of Christmas classics featuring 15 musicians playing over 20 instruments, complete with multimedia effects. “Glee’s” Jane Lynch and “The Office’s Kate Flannery enjoyed their show so much last year, they’re coming back again for a show Saturday evening. Canadian Brass Returns to The Hylton Performing Center

There’s just something about brass music and the holidays. The Canadian Brass returns to the Hylton Performing Arts Center at George Mason University on November 30. They will be performing holiday favorites like “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Christmastime is Here.” The group has recorded over 130 albums and have toured worldwide. More information can be found here.
Light Yards is Back

The interactive light installation Light Yards began Tuesday at The Yards and runs through January 2. Enjoy thousands of twinkling lights and of course the swinging bells, where guests can swing on 13-foot-tall light-up bells that jingle as you swing. The bells are open daily from 5-10 p.m. More information on the event can be found here.
Winter Is About to Get Wonderful at Nats Park

Nationals Park is hosting Winter Wonderfest this holiday season, starting the day after Thanksgiving. There will be a 100-foot tubing slide, winter train ride, LED see-saws, a 9-hole putt-putt course, après chalet by Fireball and more. There will be special theme nights too. Celebrate Winter with a Month-Long Festival at The Folger

The Folger Shakespeare Library is kicking off their second annual Folger Frost Fair Saturday. The annual celebration this year includes holiday décor, festive performances, Shakespeare-themed activities and feting Jane Austen’s 250th birthday. There are also plans for building tours and craft stations and other family-friendly activities. More information can be found here.
The Shamrock Tenors will be at The Kennedy Center This Weekend Only

Irish PBS favorite The Shamrock Tenors are appearing at The Kennedy Center for a series of shows now through November 30. The group’s concert, titled “Christmas in Belfast,” will feature holiday classics with a sprinkle of Irish tradition and craic (aka Irish English for social activity and a good time). Grammy Award Winner Michelle Williams to Sing at CityCenterDC Tree Lighting

Former Destiny’s Holiday Tree Lighting on Saturday. Williams, who is currently appearing on Broadway in the show “Death Becomes Her,” will be performing alongside members of the American Pops Orchestra. During the tree lighting festivities, there will be complimentary face painting, balloon art and hot chocolate and small bites for purchase. More information can be found here.
The Ultimate Turkey Trot: America’s Trot for Hunger Presented by SOME
D.C.’s biggest and only Turkey Trot is presented by SOME, or So Others Might Eat, a local non-profit that helps the area’s most vulnerable neighbors. Each year, thousands meet a Freedom Plaza and this year marks the 24th annual 5K, or little ones have the option of doing a Little Turkey 1-Miler. More information on the event can be found here.
