Live from the Lawn at Strathmore Has Cool Concerts for Kids
Strathmore’s Live from the Lawn continues this evening with a special concert for kids. Join former Strathmore Artist in Residence Becky Hill with instrumentalist Rachel Eddy for a night of Appalachian music and dance. Expect to see lots of banjoes, clogging steps, fiddle music and some square dancing too. More information can be found here.

The Kennedy Center’s REACH campus continues its outdoor movie season Friday with the 2009 hit Julie & Julia, starring Meryl Streep as the titular main character Julia Child. Every Friday evening this summer at sundown, guests are welcome to gather for viewings under the evening sky through August 29. More information on the film series can be found here.

The Mubadala CITI DC Open Starts Saturday
Qualifying weekend is this weekend for the Mubadala CITI DC Open and next week is main draw. Over 81,000 people are expected to be in attendance for the tennis tournament, which was co-founded by Arthur Ashe, Donald Dell and John A. Harris. The event is one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in tennis and is the only combined ATP and WTA 500 tournament in the world. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF). It is held annually in Rock Creek Park since its founding. More information can be found here.

Play Some Chess with the Georgetown Neighborhood Library
The Georgetown Library Chess Club welcomes all ages and skill levels every other Saturday afternoon to meet and play some matches and enjoy the game of chess. The National Cannabis Festival is This Weekend

See hip-hop vets like Three 6 Mafia and Big Boi, as well as singer Ty Dolla $ign at the RFK Festival Grounds this weekend for the National Cannabis Festival. While it’s typically held in the spring, the event has been moved to the summer. Expect lots of cannabis exhibitors, bites at the Munchies Zone and learn how to grow cannabis at home. Ali Wong and Bill Hader Present: ‘Dead Inside’
The American premiere of ‘Dead Inside’ by Ali Wong and Bill Hader, has been extended at Woolly Mammoth through August 3. The show is part-musical, part solo standup and plenty of laughs. “Dead Inside” is about actor Riki Lindhome’s real-life fertility journey, from hormone shots to IVF and everything in between, all expecting women to grin and bear it. Note: Artist talkbacks will be after the July 17 and 24 performances. More information can be found here.

Check Out ‘Apropos of Nothing, a Comedy’ at The Keegan Theatre
Don’t miss this play at The Keegan Theatre which tells the tale of Owen, who’s in love with his best friend’s wife. With the help of a millennial friend, all parties are forced to take a deeper look into their lives and relationships. More information on the show, which runs through August 10, can be found here.

SNL’s Kyle Mooney Plays 9:30 Club Tonight

Kyle Mooney spent nine years on SNL before focusing on music. He’ll be playing 9:30 Club Sunday evening with doors opening at 6 p.m. He is best known for being a multi-hyphenate comedian, actor, writer and director who writes, produces and performs all of his songs.
