The Washington Nationals are kicking off their summer concert series with local band O.A.R. Attend the 6:45 p.m. game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals and stick around for a post-game concert approximately a half hour after the last out in the game. ‘The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs’ is at the Washington National Opera

The modern American opera is playing at the Kennedy Center Opera House now through Saturday only. The show is created by the Kennedy Center’s first composer-in-residence Mason Bates and librettist Mark Campbell. The opera, which has won Grammy Awards, follows the life of Steve Jobs and his quest for inner peace. Read our review of the opera here and tickets can be found here.
Washington Performing Arts Presents “Modern Warrior Live”
Enjoy an evening that shows the story of U.S. Army vet Jaymes Poling and his experience through three deployments in Afghanistan and transitioning to life back home. Planet Word to Host Language Science Fair

Planet Word is hosting a free Language Science Fair Saturday celebrating the 75th anniversary of the National Science Foundation. There will be puzzles, crafts, prizes and more. Traveling Players Ensemble Debuts New Children’s Play

Traveling Players Ensemble, a local educational theatre company that trains teens and tweens in classical theatre, is debuting their first public reading of their new play “Arachne” on Saturday at 3 p.m. The play will premiere later this summer and star all local children. One of America’s Best Organists to Perform Free Recital

Nathan Laube, known as one of the country’s best classical organists, will be performing a free recital at St. Ann Catholic Church on Sunday. The concert, called “Theme & Variations” will feature the music of Mendelson, Schmidt and more and is a great option for Mother’s Day. More information on the event can be found here.
Smithsonian’s APAC ‘Sightlines’ is Saturday

“Sightlines” Saturday with the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center will feature 50 years of SE Asian American journeys. Head to the Smithsonian American Art Museum for film screenings and panelists and more. The program is a complement to the exhibit “Sightlines: Chinatown and Beyond,” which is presented by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center. More information on the event can be found here.
Celebrate Violinist Ariel Horowitz’s Debut Album ‘Hearth’ at Ingleside at Rock Creek

Ariel Horowitz, violinist, composer and community organizer, will be celebrating their debut album at Ingleside at Rock Creek. Enjoy classical music, original compositions, spoken word and immersive soundscapes, all beginning at 3 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center. Horowitz will be joined by guest artists Britton-René Collins on marimba and Alexa Stier on piano. More information can be found here.
