One Night Only at The National Theatre: ‘The Life and Music of George Michael’

A concert-style show celebrating the life and music of singer George Michael is back at The National Theatre for one night. Saturday at 7:30 p.m. catch a whirlwind of a show with Michael’s greatest hits, complete with concert-like staging and lights. More information on how to get tickets can be found here.

Grammy Winning Group to Perform at George Mason’s Center for the Arts

La Santa Cecilia, a Grammy winning and Latin Grammy-nominated group, will be performing at George Mason Center for the Arts Concert Hall Saturday evening. Their musical style combines a mix of Latin culture, world music and rock. The group is named after the patron saint of music, Saint Cecilia. More information on tickets can be found here.

The Last Concert of the S&R Evermay Listening Room is Friday

S&R Evermay’s intimate concert series “The Listening Room” concludes with “Broadway Unplugged,” featuring Christine Dwyer and Matt DeAngelis. Dwyer debuted on Broadway in Wicked, where she played Elphaba, and DeAngelis has been featured on Broadway in musicals like Waitress, where he played Earl. The concert starts at 7 p.m., but attendees are welcome to arrive at 6 p.m. for a reception with light bites and drinks. More information can be found here.

Experience Silkroad Ensemble at Strathmore

Silkroad Ensemble will be at the Music Center at Strathmore on Sunday evening for a performance. The program, called “American Railroad,” will be led by pipa virtuoso Wu Man. It will honor contributions of Indigenous African Americans and migrant communities who built our country’s railroads. More information on tickets can be found here.

This Weekend: Four Seasons DC Wine & Dine

Tonight and Friday mark the fourth annual Four Seasons DC Wine & Dine, benefiting MedStar Health’s cancer research initiatives. This evening from 6-10 p.m. is a culinary showcase at Bourbon Steak, featuring chef action stations, passed hors d’oeuvres and curated wine and spirit tastings. Friday will be a Fine Wine & Celebrity Chef Dinner, featuring a four-course seated dinner from celebrity chefs and wine from Lost Mountain Vineyards, Rudd Estate and more. Step Right Up! Side Yards is Back for Another Year

Side Yards, The Yards’ popular sideshow act event, is back for its 10th year on Friday. This year’s event includes an updated take with Luche Libre Mexican wrestler performances and lots of sideshow acts including magicians, contortionists, jugglers, sword swallowers and more. Love A Cappella? You’ll Want to See This

Saturday at Sixth & I: Midori on Violin

Violinist Midori returns for a concert presented by Washington Performing Arts, along with pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute, at Sixth & I Saturday evening. The program will be anchored by Beethoven’s “Spring” Sonata and will also include Schubert’s “Rondo Brillante” and a new work written for Midori by Che Buford, a New York-based violinist and composer. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Alex Borstein is at Miracle Theatre Tonight

Perhaps best known for her roles as Susie in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the voice of Lois on Family Guy, Alex Borstein is in town for one show this evening at The Miracle Theatre. She’ll be performing a comedy set about what life is like caring for both kids and aging parents. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to The Creative Coalition. Georgetown Holiday Head Start is This Weekend
Friday through Sunday, the Georgetown BID, Georgetown Citizens Association and Georgetown Main Street have put together a weekend event exclusively for Georgetown residents. There will be early access to discounts, gifts with purchases, free sips and more. Residents just need to mention “Holiday Head Start” in store at participating businesses this weekend.
