Here in Georgetown, Saturday, June 20, is also Fête de la Musique – Make Music Day, with more than 30 musical acts performing at outdoor locations that afternoon into early evening, when the action moves to the Embassy of France. Get your FIFA on at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at a World Cup Pastries & Watch Party (U.S. vs. Australia) at Maman, 1353 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the World Cup, the café offers flaky soccer ball-shaped croissants with globally inspired fillings (chocolate buttercream for the home squad).
Juneteenth on the Rooftop
Decades DC, 1219 Connecticut Ave. NW, promises The Biggest Juneteenth Celebration in the City, organized by Fez Events, on Friday, June 19, from 3 to 9:30 p.m. (free entry before 5 p.m. with RSVP). The DJs will be spinning hip hop, house, Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall and R&B.
Jazz in the Garden
Vocalist Georgia Heers performs on Friday, June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of the Jazz in the Garden: American Sounds series in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. The lottery for free tickets closes on Friday at noon. Also that day, at 2 p.m. in the East Building Auditorium, the NGA presents a free screening of Lisa Immordino Vreeland’s 2020 film “Truman and Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation,” about Capote and Williams (not “Give ’em Hell” Harry and the Volunteer State).
A Sri Lankan Evening

Party On With Pride
Riot! The Official Capital Pride Opening Party busts into Echostage, 2135 Queens Chapel Road NE, on Friday, June 19, at 9 p.m., declaring victory at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20. Tickets start at $39. At 3 p.m. on Saturday, this year’s Capital Pride Celebration Parade steps off at 14th and T Streets NW, packing it in at Pennsylvania Avenue and 9th Street NW at 7:30 p.m. Single tickets for grandstand bleacher seats in Franklin Park are $40. Other Capital Pride events include the 17th Street Pride Block Party from noon to 10 p.m. and the Family Fun Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stead Park, 1625 P St. NW.
For Kids and Dads (Moms, too)
Every Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., kids can dig into a free hands-on activity at Camp Pinstripes. Participating children get a complimentary brunch voucher good for the same day. On Sunday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Pinstripes, located at 1064 Wisconsin Ave. NW, hosts a Father’s Day Brunch with all-you-can-eat baby back ribs and BBQ chicken pizza.
Play With Blocks
On Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., participants in Hand Block Printing with Clare Winslow, a D.C.-based painter and printmaker, will make prints and greeting cards using Speedy Carve rubber blocks at Washington Printmakers Gallery, 1675 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Tuition for this beginner-friendly workshop is $75 plus a $25 materials fee.
The Sound of Musique
The Georgetown BID, Georgetown Heritage Arts and Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education, are sponsoring the third annual Fête de la Musique – Make Music Day in Georgetown on Saturday, June 20. Upwards of 30 musical acts will perform around the neighborhood from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the French Embassy, 4101 Reservoir Road NW, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Greet Summer at African Art
Join a Solstice Celebration on Saturday, June 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, 950 Independence Ave. SW. The Sound of Four Hands Playing
Pianists Daria Vasileva and Amina Mashkeyeva perform selections by Brahms, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Fauré and Rachmaninoff at A Dance for Four Hands on Sunday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Cleveland Park Congregational United Church of Christ, 3400 Lowell St. NW.
