Is the Stock Market Open Today?

Three websites that answer the simple – yet not always obvious – question of "Is it open today?" have been updated for 2019. PostOfficeOpen.com lets visitors know if the post office is open, BanksOpenToday.com answers the question of whether banks are open, and MarketTradingToday.com conveys whether stock market trading is happening on that day.

"These simple sites are handy for individuals, businesses and investors. I'm pleased to update them again this year," said Kevin Savetz, the sites' creator. "Everyone has been in the position of showing up at the post office or bank only to learn that it's closed for a holiday or another reason. It's helpful to know when the stock market is open, whether you're trading stocks or just do business with those who do. These sites can save you a trip and help avoid late bills and wire transfers as well as other mishaps."

Also fully updated for 2019 are free PDF printables listing by date the postal holidays, bank holidays and stock market trading days and hours.

These well-researched sites take into account when a holiday falls on a weekend or when the "official" recognition of a holiday varies by date. Savetz Publishing also strives to manually update the sites when an unexpected event causes a closure, such as in the case of the 2018 death of President George H. W. Bush.

"PostOfficeOpen.com, BanksOpenToday.com, and MarketTradingToday.com instantly answer the yes-or-no question in bold type, and below that displays whether the institution is open 'tomorrow'," Savetz said. The printable reference complements the sites so you can see the schedule for the entire year at a glance."

BanksOpenToday.com bases its data on the official schedule of Federal Reserve Bank holidays. Because some branches and in-store banks may be open on weekends, the site will state that banks are closed any time the day is a federal banking holiday. The information at PostOfficeOpen.com is based on official postal holidays.

The newest of the three sites, MarketTradingToday.com, is even more robust, considering the "why" of the closure, such as weekends, a specific holiday, the time of day and short trading days. Time zones are taken into account and a countdown clock alerts visitors to the next opening time if markets are closed.

"I launched PostOfficeOpen.com back in 2010 and later added BanksOpenToday.com and MarketTradingToday.com as one-stop references," Savetz said. "My goal is to save people time, money and frustration."

PostOfficeOpen.com, BanksOpenToday.com, and MarketTradingToday.com are convenient sites from the creator of the FaxZero.com free internet fax service and the more than 100 sites in the FreePrintable.net family of free printables sites created by Savetz Publishing, Inc., a company devoted to creating useful and informative websites of interest to consumers and small businesses.
