When people complain about work/life balance, or the lack of it, many times, they’re alluding to the stress of ALLLLL the stuff they have to do. Or want to do. In this day and age, it can really pile on!
One of the most effective ways to achieve work/life balance may be to just “walk away” for a bit.
You may think I’m crazy for suggesting this, but consider the fact that taking a breather, distressing, re-focusing can settle that stress about getting it all done.
True disengagement means doing something that completely takes your mind off work. For many, exercise fits this bill. Taking a class. Going to dinner with a (non work) friend.
When you detach, you set yourself up for re-engaging with better energy and focus.
Give it a try – walk away!
