W2O Acquires 21GRAMS

W2O Group has acquired New York-based healthcare advertising firm 21GRAMS.

Financial terms of the transaction were not publicly disclosed.

21GRAMS was founded by CEO Robert Blink in 2018. The full-service agency bills itself as a strategic and creative marketing, advertising and patient/medical education shop “dedicated to making healthcare more human.”

W2O in a statement said the acquisition would bolster the independent marketing and communications network’s position in medical and scientific communications as well as strengthen its capabilities in direct-to-consumer, direct-to-provider and business-to-business advertising and marketing.

21GRAMS will retain its name in light of the acquisition. No forthcoming changes were reported to the agency’s leadership team or staff, and the agency will remain in its current Midtown Manhattan office.

The deal accounts for only the latest wave in a continued series of agency acquisitions for W2O. The healthcare and tech-focused network in November acquired London-based scientific and medical communications firm ISO.Health as well as Montclair, NJ-based “scientific visualization” company Radius Digital Science. Those deals followed W2O’s October acquisition of Philadelphia-based medical and scientific communications shop Arcus Medica.

San Francisco-headquartered W2O was the No. 1 healthcare company in O’Dwyer’s 2018 rankings, posting $177.5 million in a total net fees last year, which accounts for a 23 percent gain from the year prior.
