We're a week into December now. People are counting down the days till the holiday break, and that means many businesses are starting to wind down for the year--which is exactly the opposite of what most of them should be doing.
That's not to say you shouldn't give employees time off at the holiday--they're expecting that, and it's important.
But customers don't always take a vacation when you do. If it looks like you'd prefer to shut down shop rather than take care of customer needs and expectations, someone else is likely to jump in and sprint the last distance to beat you to the finish line.
Now is the time to be thinking of how you can start 2018 with a splash. Did you meet your goals for 2017? If not, what got in your way, and how will you get past that in the future? What are your goals for the new year? What new initiatives will you be implementing? What existing programs need to be tweaked, or even discontinued?
And, most importantly, what do you need to do now to make sure you the next leg of your business relay gets off to a powerful start?
Don't let the sight of year end slow you down. Run through the tape instead.
