Last week, one of my clients, Sonatina Piano Camp, marked their 50th anniversary with a big celebration that included free concerts, a parade with 4 brightly painted pianos, the premiere of a specially commissioned new piano work, and more.

I’m working with other groups that are celebrating their 25th and 40th anniversaries in the coming year. In each case, the goal is to find the right way to commemorate the occasion, while providing a strong reminder for key audiences (such as patrons and donors) to reconnect and rekindle interest.

A milestone event provides a great opportunity to reach out to your supporters and tell them how much you appreciate them. What if you haven’t been around anywhere near 25 years or more? Not a problem. Celebrate your first five years. Or the day you founded the company. Or a key date in your industry.

The actual event is not that critical. People love to have the chance to celebrate–especially when so much of the news in the world is dreary.

Don’t miss a chance to tell your customers, clients, and supporters how important they are. It’s amazing how a little celebration can make people feel good about their ongoing connection to you and your organization.
