TreatNOW Coalition -- Concussion Protocol Experts

The suicide epidemic afflicting the US has seen dramatic and lethal increases in deaths to Special Operators, first responders, women soldiers, and veterans. Along with Functional Medicine practitioners, Dr. Beckman and TreatNOW seek to demand proper diagnosis and treatment of physical injuries to the brain that too often precede suicide. It is true as well for athletes and citizens alike.

Brain injuries are wounds, wounds that can be treated and helped to heal with hyperbaric oxygenation. Dr. Beckman encouraged the ACHM to continue to build collaborative coalitions in the medical field to break the bureaucratic cycle of "deny, delay, deceive, drugs, depression, and death" that too often precedes self-extinction.

Workplace Bullying is Responsible for Lost Time and Productivity

Timothy A. Dimoff -- High Risk Security Expert

Behavior and Motivation of a Bully

Bullying comes in many forms, such as:

• Verbal Abuse

• Spreading Gossip and Lies

• Threatening Behavior

• Humiliation

• Work Inferences and Sabotage

• Persistent Criticisms of an Employee's Work

• Insulting Workers' Habits, Attitudes or Personal Lives

• Reminding Employees of Mistakes

Behaviors like this tend to be directed towards people eager to please, are non-confrontational, and are threaten by an authority. There is a misconception that victims of bullying are vulnerable, weak, or thin-skinned. This is not usually the case because many times, the people targeted are tough competitors, go-getters, high performers, and well-liked people. Bullying has a hidden motivation, and that is control.

12 Signs You are Being Bullied

1. Your work is never good enough for the boss.

2. Your boss makes you feel humiliated.

3. You always feel anxious and agitated at work and dread the start of a new workweek.

4. Your co-workers stop socializing with you.

5. Someone is continually interfering with tasks you are trying to complete.

6. You are yelled at in front of others but punished for crying back.

7. Human resources and other bosses say there is "nothing they can do" about the bully's behavior.

8. Your requests to transfer positions or office locations are denied.

9. You always feel stressed about work, even when you're at home.

10. You feel exhausted on your days off and are uninterested in activities you once enjoyed.

11. Your family suggests you "leave work at the office," and your doctor asks about what

could be causing your new health problems. 12. You start to think you somehow caused the bullying.

Art Rios - Author of Let's Talk...About Making Your Life Exciting, Easier and Exceptional

Can you look back at your life and say you have no regrets? Are you bogged down by the meaningless complexities of the world? In his witty, conversational book, Let's Talk…About Making Your Life Exciting, Easier and Exceptional, debut author Art Rios wants to make sure his readers know that it's never too late to make your life exciting, easier, and exceptional.

"When, where, why, and how did life stop being exciting and straightforward?" Rios asks. "We've taken on so much stress and worry. All the time. But why? For what?"

In each of his "talks," Rios offers fun, simple ways you can improve your life today. It can be as easy as spending more time with family, relaxing with a long lunch, or enjoying a lazy Sunday in your pajamas. "Improving your life doesn't have to be complicated," says Rios. "It's just a matter of putting a little common sense and thought into the way you're living your life."

A trial lawyer by profession, a student of humanity by choice, and a friend to all by nature, Rios was inspired to write Let's Talk because of the ways he saw people overcomplicating their lives. "I'm someone people gravitate to for help," Rios says. "I care about people, always have, and this connection gave me inspiration to write Let's Talk."

Leadership in Normal 2.0 -- The Herman Trend Alert October 21, 2020

Joyce L. Gioia, CMC, CSP -- The Herman Group

Leadership in Normal 2.0

Just as "Normal" has evolved to Normal 2.0, so has the role of leaders changed. This week, we look at who executives need to be to be successful leaders of their organizations. As an advisor to C-Level executives, I have seen this transformation happening among the ranks of the best leaders.

Purposeful Leadership

We used to say, "People want to do 'meaningful' work." However, the concept of "Purpose" has risen to prime importance for today's employees. Some may say that it is just semantics, but I do not agree. Perhaps purposeful work is the mother of meaningful work? When it comes to strategic planning, having a Mission has clearly taken a backseat to having a Purpose. For executives in Normal 2.0, having and sharing a Purpose is not optional.

Ability to Envision and Embrace the Future

Closely related to purpose is the ability to embrace the future for the organization, then create a Vision for the organization and communicate that envisioned future in a way that associates want to help bring that Vision to reality. This quality was important in the past and continues to be important as we move into the future. Only in Normal 2.0, this element of being an Enlighted Leader has also shifted: now, the Enlightened Leader must consider more inputs including a forecast on how the pandemic will affect his or her organization and the safety and security of employees.

Merrill's Marauders, Famed WWII Unit, Garners Congressional Gold Medal: Forerunner of Army Rangers Deserve the Recognition

Washington DC—75 years after the fact, the plaudits owed to the courageous and highly effective Merrill's Marauders was delivered on October 17, 2020 when President Trump signed into law the Merrill's Marauders Congressional Gold Medal Act. An elite unit which fought in jungles and mountains of Burma during World War II, the campaign to make this recognition a reality involved years of letter writing, gathered signatures and materials sent to Congressional members. One intimately involved in the four-year process was Linda Cunningham, whose father served with the Marauders and was always proud of their record and his fellow soldiers.

Cunningham, author of Early Thursday: A War, A Hurricane, A Miracle!, met many of Merrill's Marauders while attending a number of reunions and this piqued a keen interest in their exploits, especially since her father rarely spoke of the war. Some of the souvenirs her father collected was a famed Gurkha Kukri combat knife and a photo of a Japanese family, the latter apparently picked up in after battle remnants and one he held on to for decades. Cunningham, who is in possession of her father's wartime diaries, is putting together a book based on that and many of the stories heard at unit reunions she attended over the years.

Understanding the Law of Attraction

Rev. Marilyn Redmond, BA, CHT, IBRT -- Healing and Spiritual Growth

Nowadays people are aware of The Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction came into my awareness when the video, "The Secret", became popular in 2006. Most people had not heard about universal laws earlier. This information opened a door that had been closed.

Discussing the video at lunch with fellow spiritual people some were adamant about how exceptional it was. One person at the table, who I felt was more spiritual, had a problem with it. He felt that most important information was left out. Some people were telling that The Secret did not work. One woman interviewed needed money for her expenses, but it did not bring in money to her but put her more in debt

I found that Abraham, who is channeled by Ester Hicks, was not included in a second edition of "The Secret". Ester Hicks said she would not reframe the message to comply with the request of Rhonda Byrne, the writer and promoter of the video to eliminate necessary information to manifest the desired results.

This censorship also occurred in a very famous book by Napoleon Hill. In his book, "Think and Grow Rich". The story is that he had to leave out the very point that made "Think and Grow Rich", achievable The publisher would not publish his book with the full contents that was written, originally. He rewrote the book to get it published leaving out what he wanted to share.

An additional story is that a professional woman wrote a spiritual book with the full truth and sent it to a famous publishing house of spiritual material. Because of the reputation of the company and her wish for their prestige of the company to help produce sales, she complied with leaving out the information she initially was sharing.

BIG! Strategies to Help You THINK BIG

Marsha Egan, CSP - Workplace Productivity Coach and E-mail Expert

Here are some strategies for you to consider:

• Be comfortable with discomfort. Changing anything is uncomfortable, and if you are trying to open the door to thinking bigger, it will be uncomfortable. So prepare yourself!

• Create space. If your physical and/or mental space is cluttered, there may be no room for creative thinking. Many a great idea comes while people are taking their morning showers, right? Decluttering that space, and giving yourself permission to let your mind wander or explore can help you as you allow yourself to think bigger.

• Continuous learning. The more curious you are, the more you allow expanded thoughts. A thirst for learning can build your curiosity and set the stage for expanded thinking.

• Supportive relationships. You can't achieve BIG goals alone; your relationships can not only challenge you but help you achieve your goals.

• Set BIG goals. This is really important. If you want to achieve "bigger and better", embrace the power of goal setting to help you do that. These BIG goals cannot be ambiguous; they must be specific. Two words: AIM HIGH. More on goal setting here.

• Act. As with any strategy to achieve goals, the key to bringing it all together is to take action.

How to Protect Your Mental Health During the Extended Covid Crisis

Janice Litvin -- Wellness Speaker

t was around week 4 of Covid. I was feeling antsy. I was starting to snap at my family. Suddenly I realized I was getting burned out from being cooped up at home with nowhere to go and no one to see. Of course, I was grateful that I was not all alone. After all, I had heard from a few of my friends who live alone that they hadn't had a hug in weeks. And, I was grateful that neither my family, nor I were sick with the Covid.

But I was feeling so frustrated that I couldn't go out to spend time with friends. Finally I realized I was burning out on the Covid. Do any of these thoughts or feelings resonate with you?

I began to wonder. If I am having these thoughts and feelings, perhaps other people are having them as well?

What did I do?

Besides doing what everyone else was doing – meeting friends and family on Zoom and binge-watching Netflix, I started to pay attention to how I was feeling.

First I remembered that there are things in life we can control and things we cannot control. We can't control the virus, as individuals, but we can control our thoughts, which impact our feelings, our actions, and our reactions. This is not to say that I did not have a moment of anxiety or fear or frustration, but when I stopped, I realize that fear did not have to control my thoughts, and that I could heed my own advice and monitor and change my thoughts. Also, I remembered that we are staying home because we want to stop the spread of the virus.

Then I realized that I needed to try and focus on resilience. Resilience is about being able to recover quickly from any challenge.

How do we develop the ability to be resilient?
