FULL SERVICE DESIGN

I love color but there’s so much more to design than just selecting the right colors. As a full service design company, I help my clients with all kinds of remodels and home improvements from new bathrooms to selecting and purchasing furniture, draperies and accessories.  Color is the theme that goes throughout all of those and ties them together.  I love the psychology aspect of design and all the different angles it hits.

My neighbor has been doing a lot of  yard construction lately and was complaining about all the noise and dirt and hassle.  Here are a few tips for surviving any construction.

Construction is always messy and noisy and lets face it aggravating. How do you survive it without losing your sanity?

TIPS FOR SURVIVING CONSTRUCTION

1. Communication is the key.   Make sure you are clear in your expectations.   The more upfront you are, the less likely there is to be a problem.
2.Ask questions.   Better to ask a question you think is stupid and know whats going on than to wish you had asked when its done.  There’s never a stupid question if it means it will allay your fears.
3.Get away from the project.   Look it’s messy and noisy, give yourself a treat and do something fun.   Many workers don’t  like to be watched all the time, they get nervous.  You may get to know them and you can be cordial  but you wouldn’t want someone watching your every move so don’t watch them that way.
4.Be prepared.  Some rooms are harder to deal with under construction than others.  Have a backup plan for how you are going to work through it.
5.Much like planning a party, something can and may go wrong.  Be prepared for oops.
6.Keep in mind the finished product. It may be messy now but its going to be worth it when it’s done.   Keep your eye on the prize because it is definitely worth it.
Your project doesn’t have to be difficult, it can go smoothly.  Following these simple tips will make your job run smoother and save your sanity as well.
