At the Heart of it All, NAMM

Video Clip: Click to Watch

Teachers are back the LA's classrooms and the NAMM show has featured California Department of Education's specialist Jack Mitchell talking about state Arts standards.

Standards is a popular design construct which drives engineers and designers in the electronics, parts, and manufacturing industries that in part drive success of the Music Industry in their sound, light, and tech options that have led to award-winning changes in hearing, seeing, streaming and enchanting players, performers, audiences and driving sales and creative achievements in Entertainment, the Arts, Religious gatherings and large events.

International trade has been a driver of sales and of innovation.  Up and down the West Coast, our educational system, the post war economy, the rock and roll revolution, transducers and transformers, the Space Race and the Silicon Valley in combination with new materials, new problems to solve, collaboration and a drive to support radio, records, fans, and use large venues, have brought wireless mics to stacks of speakers and electric guitars or drum sets and so many more tools of the music trade to transform recording, storage, singing, and distribution of music throughout the country and then exponentially copied through the globe.

This week, we have our music merchandisers formative trade fair that has rotated between Los Angeles and Anaheim in play.

Building on the giants of the performance world, scientists, engineers, writers, players, innovators, roadies, visionaries, policy makers, policy planners, copyright industries, arts educators, music publishers, accessories, fan software, social media and marketing companies, agents, publishers, manufacturers, and their back bone educators/community music stores, chain stores, online resellers analysts, family owned businesses, new store owners, insurance companies, college grads, trade associations have been going to All Star Guitar night or doing business, learning, meeting, seeing, planning and learning.

The trade magazines to streaming content will fill the halls. The community drum circle to the policy talks about arts education and award winning students will perform.

NAMM's in session and will talk about national issues with specialists from all parts of the business. The Foundation talks about Education and innovation in the classroom or by school boards and districts.  It's the place to be for learning about the latest line of professional gear, business, and the business of music. You can find out the fads that build artist on the road voice care or body well-being. From digital lessons, to degrees, to  healthier practice techniques, to marketing communications or social media innovation, tips and colleagues in trade, commerce, management, education, trade support services, new materials, digital streaming, tech integration and more.

It's the place to be. There will be a memorial to leaders lost and a salute to challenges faced and sales heights reached.  It volume, instruction, trad music to fine arts is your thing your will find it in the rows of booths from all over the world.

Just a moment too to remember the passing of Michel Legrand this weekend and songwriters whose songs have also innovated and driven new generations to understand music through the movies, music collections, and collaborations between writers, friends, allies, and studios whether recording studios, schools, or sound tracks.

Bravo to the Arts and Sciences enjoined in the AATVC and connected career clusters.

Bravo to those missed and to those who participated as their first year.  Bravo to the new women in retail and on the Board of NAMM.  Bravo to Bono and Generation Music I.E.

It's a brave new world and we look forward to what's next.

The LAUSD strikers defended the Arts in Education:

"The district's Arts Education Branch has worked to expand year-round arts instruction in all disciplines for its students since budget cutsfollowing the 2008 financial crisis. In 2015,

LAUSD released the Arts Equity Index report to determine how the district was doing to make sure English-language learners, foster youth, and students living in poverty have access to the arts. It determined that 75% of schools were underserved or grossly underserved by the arts. Since that time, the district's arts budget has doubled to over $31 million, but still falls short of pre-recession levels." (hyperallergic.com article below)
