Why AI Slop Is a Real Problem

AI has made it easier than ever to produce more content faster.
That’s good but faster is not always better.

When creators rely too heavily on generic AI output, their videos, articles, emails, and posts can start sounding like everyone else’s — polished, but forgettable.

The goal is not to avoid AI. The goal is to use AI wisely so your real voice, experience, and point of view come through even stronger.

The Power of Deep Research
You get to discover how tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other AI platforms can help you go deeper into a topic before creating content or preparing for a client opportunity.

Be Real, Not Perfect
This episode has a more casual, human feel because I’m recording from my study and then I step outside to share the view from Orlando with you.

Audiences do not always need perfect production. They want real connection. Discover how to connect more in this video.

Make AI Help You Become More You

AI should help you clarify your ideas, clean up your drafts, research faster, and improve your structure. But it should not replace your voice.

Get some great ideas here on how to make that happen.

Why Your Perspective Matters
Your stories, client examples, opinions, lessons learned, and personal experiences are what make your content different. AI can generate words. But it cannot replace your lived experience, judgment, personality, and unique way of seeing the world.

For your convenience, here’s a transcript of this episode:

Terry Brock [00:00:00]:
Of the most important things for us content creators and really creative conductors is you connect with people. I wanna show you in this video how you can start being more relevant than ever, get more views, be able to connect with people. That’s the key. Really make that connection. Right now as I’m doing this but this is gonna be a little bit different video. You’ll notice I’m here in my study. And, matter of fact, I’m gonna take you outside and let you see some of the good things there. You’re gonna like that using my Samsung s 26 Ultra rather than using my, regular studio.

Terry Brock [00:00:28]:
So we can show you a little bit different. What we need to do as content creators is take the time to rest and rejuvenate. That’s where you get your best ideas. When you’re resting and rejuvenating, then you’re gonna be able to find out what’s going on. Because you see, otherwise, what happens is the AI content that’s out there, it just turns into what they call AI slop. I know. Not a very pretty term, but it’s real. It’s what, things are happening, what is going on with there, and we gotta make sure that we don’t make that mistake, but we stay in regular creative flow.

Terry Brock [00:01:00]:
That’s critical. You wanna do that. Why you’ll do that is you wanna make sure that people are connecting with you, that you’re saying, okay. Here’s real problems. That’s where the research comes in. In this video, I’m gonna talk with you about how you can do that. One of the ways to do it, let’s do it right now, is through the tools called deep research. When you’re using chat GPT, using, Gemini, using Claude, others, they have the term deep research and some others well, when you see that, you wanna go deep into it.

Terry Brock [00:01:30]:
Get it deep research, go in deep. You can find out what’s going on. Just let me give you an example. Just the other day, I got a message from a speaker’s bureau I’ve worked with before. It’s wonderful people. And they said, Terry, would you be willing to do this program for this particular client on this date? I looked and saw, yeah, the dates are available. This is good. Businesses, this is a good thing.

Terry Brock [00:01:50]:
We look at it. We’re available. But, it was an industry that I don’t know that is much about, but I did some research on it. I went over and looked at what was going on, gave the information to the bureau that he sent on to his contacts there. And guess what? It’s looking good. It’s not there yet as I’m doing this recording, but I want you to think about that. Be prepared beforehand. Use the deep research and get the kinds of things done that need to be done.

Terry Brock [00:02:16]:
One of the things need to be done, right now, I’m gonna pick this up right here, and I’m gonna walk over here outside so that you and I get a chance to see what’s going on. And this beautiful day, here we are stepping outside. And what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna take this and turn it over so you can see what’s going on. There it is. Look at that beautiful day here right now. Looking at here in Orlando, Florida. And in fact, as we look at that, we can see what it’s like. And our view we have right here look at this across the street here.

Terry Brock [00:02:42]:
I’m gonna zoom in on this a little bit. A little bit crude with a we’re all into it, but you’ll see there’s some of the capabilities right here that we have. Look at this. To Harry Potter’s World right over there at Universal Studios Orlando, administrative Building. You’ll see some of the, feature they have with the roller coaster, etcetera, and the lake in front of us here, which is really nice. This kind of thing can help. Makes it look a lot better all the way around even as I mess up the camera there. Put that together, do that.

Terry Brock [00:03:09]:
What I’m gonna do here, I’m just gonna sit down and get a chance you can see right here. I’m gonna sit down and get a chance to just be with you and me here as we talk about it on a nice wonderful spring day, talk about where we are. I’ve booked I’m taking a few notes here I wanna talk with you about. The things are really good. One of the things that’s winning right now so you can get beyond the AI slob is let it be the real you. That’s kinda what I’m doing here. Hey. Someone’s looking at this and says, Terry, you should do this different, and your video should be different.

Terry Brock [00:03:38]:
And you have a little jerk where you are off the screen or something like that. Well, okay. That’s good, Sparky. I’m off the screen occasionally, and I’m gonna do some things that are human, but I’m willing to press through with it. That’s what you wanna do. You wanna take some time to press through and just be you. Be real. This is what our market wants more than anything.

Terry Brock [00:04:00]:
There’s too much unreal out there. So you wanna make sure you’re doing that. And particularly as I’m doing this, it happens to be a holiday. Today is a Thursday. I’m recording this. We’ll send the video out on Friday. I’m telling you exactly what we’re doing here all the way through. And this way, we’re gonna send it out, and we’ll have the weekend.

Terry Brock [00:04:16]:
By the way, creator to creator, entrepreneur to entrepreneur, here’s what you wanna do. Figure out ways that you can get a lot done so that you can have, Monday holiday that’s coming up, like Memorial Day and then Labor Day and other two other days, throughout the year like that. When you get that Monday off, well then, hey. You can take, of course, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. There’s three days. Yeah. But, hey. Don’t tell any of the grown ups, but you could take Friday.

Terry Brock [00:04:44]:
There’s four and maybe maybe you play it just right Thursday. And you think, okay. Five days. That’s pretty nice vacation for some of us. And we need that for rejuvenating, for getting our energy back. Because let’s face it, you and me, come on. You I know you’re pushing hard. You’re going for it, and sometimes it gets a little rough.

Terry Brock [00:05:05]:
I had to get a little extra sleep this morning just because, well, pushing a little hard, and that’s okay. Now I’m feeling a little bit better. Had some good Cardiomiracle, that little pack of stuff that’s put out there by the good folks at Cardiomiracle. And, it really gave me some energy that I need healthy and strong, that nitric oxide, all those kind of good things are there. Find what works for you and do that. Make sure that it works really well. So what you wanna do today is you wanna I’m gonna suggest to you something a little bit radical. I want you to pause.

Terry Brock [00:05:35]:
Build that into your schedule. When you’re creating content, pause and take some time to be able to relax and well, let’s say enjoy the view. So, again, I’m gonna look over here. You can see what it’s like on a beautiful day. And sometimes this is really good, just refreshing. I love sitting and looking out over our lake here. By the way, this is Spring Lake. And we look at here in Orlando, Florida, get a chance to see what that’s like.

Terry Brock [00:05:58]:
And by the way, over there, over there in that direction is where we see the rockets take off from Cape Canaveral. They don’t have any scheduled today, I think, but nice to do that. You see, all of this is about you getting a chance to relax and be the person you can be best. So that there’s a time for work, and there’s a time to push forward and make that happen. So these are the things you wanna do. You wanna focus on that so you’re really given good information. And, one of the things I’ve been doing, working hard to get some good feedback. I appreciate it from so many of you responding with positive on my emails that go out every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, talking about what to do and the pressing way that you can use AI to get this done.

Terry Brock [00:06:41]:
See, AI is gonna be good. It can help us get done faster. That’s good, but faster is not the key. You wanna make sure that there’s much more connection. So that connection is there that you have with people. I like this weekend when we have these three day weekends, which we can turn if we really work with it. Don’t tell any of the grown ups. Okay? But with five days, we can do it.

Terry Brock [00:07:04]:
But you get a chance to have all that extra, and it gives you a time to really give some value to the world of what they’re looking for. You see, AI has made it much easier for us to produce. And what that means is that you are hearing a lot of the same phrases, the same, way of putting things out there, same way of doing it, and we’re tired of it. We’re tired of the same old, same old. I want you to you guys what you’re doing. Make it you. I was just talking to a client I was working with and coaching today about that. Take the information.

Terry Brock [00:07:37]:
He’s got a great deal of experience in his background and unique examples. And I said, well, you gotta do this. He said, well, Terry, I don’t know. I don’t have anything like that. I’ve never done this. I said, wait a minute. You have done this in that you have worked with some people in this area, in that area. He went, yeah.

Terry Brock [00:07:51]:
Okay. And I said, also, you have read about this so that you could say, I didn’t do it, but so and so said this. When she said that, I agree with her so much because of this, this, and this. See, what you can do is you’re putting your perspective into it. As I like to say, you are you icing it. You are going to Betty eyes it. If your name is Betty, you’re going to Jim eyes it. If your name is Jim, I’m Terry, so I’m going to Harry eyes it.

Terry Brock [00:08:20]:
I like saying that. It’s kinda fun. Terry eyes it. Sounds kinda cool. So you wanna put that together with that. And so what you wanna do is you wanna do that. You want to make sure that AI helps you be more of you, not less. It’s gonna help you to become more of the person you are as we let it handle the heavy lifting part.

Terry Brock [00:08:39]:
Let’s face it. It can do research faster than you and I can. It can write text, and it can write, information faster than you and I can. And often, they’re pretty good. But don’t take what it gives you as the final. I like to say, and you’ve heard me before talk about this, I look at it as the rough rough draft. I call it my doggy draft. You know, you’ve heard of the rough draft? Well, doggy draft, rough rough.

Terry Brock [00:09:03]:
It’s me just doing a a brain dump down there. What is it that I can do? Just Just put it it’s not grammatically correct. The words are not spelled right often. It’s not put together perfect, but it puts my ideas down there so that then I can go back in a rough draft and clean that up a little bit. Throw this word out. That phrase isn’t good. Oh, but saying it this way might be good. Oh, and I forgot to mention when you’re writing, putting that in there.

Terry Brock [00:09:31]:
Doing this with video is also a good way to do it. So you take that style and put it in there. Then I take the completed rough rough draft, looks pretty good, run it through AI for it to touch it up, clean it up, offer some different suggestions, not changing the world words much at all. They pretty much stay and say, it’ll clean up a few things like there might be a gap here, an extra space, or this line didn’t start with a capital letter. Okay. I’ll let AI do that kind of stuff rather than me doing it. Can I do it? Well, sure. But I want AI to do it, so it becomes a whole lot better all the way around.

Terry Brock [00:10:07]:
And what you wanna do is use this so that you get a chance to express your point of view and let AI come in and find out similarities on that. Also, you wanna make sure that you use it to clarify, not to replace you. Because AI people can try that, but eventually, we get tired of it. I’ve been talking to some meeting professionals, some bureaus a lot lately in the last few weeks, and they’re telling me they’re tired of the AI, people trying to pass it off. Matter of fact, one thing I gotta tell you, professional speaker to professional speaker if you are one or someone else who’s in another field, many meeting professionals are getting tired of seeing the video that looks really good with the the person. Oh, it looks good. They’re saying the right thing. Then they get on stage, and it’s a different person, particularly.

Terry Brock [00:10:55]:
You think, woah. A different person here. What happened? Well, it’s the same person, actually, but they didn’t look like their video. We want authenticity. We want to be real. You wanna make sure that what you’re saying is really good. Allison Shapiro, my friend, who I did a couple of videos with us last year and professor, teacher up at Harvard, she talks about the importance of being authentic. This is what our world wants today.

Terry Brock [00:11:22]:
They want us to be authentic. So behind the back, that’s what I’m doing here today. I’m using my Samsung.
