In this month’s focus on pausing, I came across this quote about pausing when talking:
Never talk for half a minute without pausing and giving others a chance to join in. – Sydney Smith
I think we all know people who don’t allow others to “get a word in edge wise.” It’s frustrating, isn’t it?
Pausing when talking not only allows you to gather your thoughts, but engages others by creating the opportunity for true conversation. Just another thing to think about with the power of the pause.
Take stock – do you “pause” enough?
