THE PRESIDENT GETS A TAX CUT!

Does that mean bad policy?

People are complaining loudly that President Trump will benefit under the new tax plan. Some argue that it's a bad idea if the president benefits. First of all, keep in mind that everybody benefits from tax cuts under the plan. People in every tax bracket and income category will see a cut in their taxes. Those in the middle-income ranges get the most benefit, with cuts ranging from 11% to 36%. The highest bracket drops from 39.5% to 37% on income over $600,000/year for a married filing jointly couple.

TRUMP IS A U.S. CITIZEN THAT PRODUCES INCOME

Does everyone get a tax cut except him?

Since Trump's income is above $600,000, then yes, he gets a tax break. The idea that he should be excluded just because of the office he holds is absurd. To the extent that his businesses benefit because of the new lower corporate tax rate, again, so what? He employs thousands of people in those businesses. The lower corporate rates will increase corporate capital, create about a half a million new jobs, and raise after tax income by nearly 3% to 4%. The real beneficiaries are American workers, some of whom happen to work for Trump.
