A shout-out to the 75+ new subscribers that have joined The Merchant Life over the past month.
We returned from Niagara Falls, ON after presenting to the store owners of Source for Sports Equipment Stores at their annual meeting.
Thanks to the team at Source for Sports for inviting me to present on inventory management, assortment planning, and maximizing store space.
Along with shoutouts, we have some exciting updates for you!
On July 11th in New York City, I’m taking retail leaders out for dinner.
Along with the wining and dining, we’ll also be talking about process innovation and its value in retail.
You can rub shoulders with leaders from Ralph Lauren, Under Armour, The Accessories Council, Hillberg and Berk amongst others.
Exciting? You better believe it.
Join us for lively business talk and a great social experience. Limited to 15 people.
Contact me directly at liza@retailstrategygroup.com if you (or someone you know) are interested in attending.
I’ll be on stage at the event.
First - a fireside chat on “How to Nurture and Leverage Human Capital in Stores” with my good friend Sharonda Weatherspoon, Ralph Lauren’s SVP of Retail Transformation, Client Development and Retail Operations.
Next - I’ll be interviewing Robin Barrett Wilson, SAP’s Industry Executive Advisor for Fashion, for The Lead’s Vision Talks. We will discuss how AI and fashion will get brands closer to their consumers with the right product at the right time.

The 2023 Accessories and Essentials Issue of Running Insight magazine has just been released. We contributed an article to the issue titled “Lost in Space.”
We talk about how specialty retailers can maximize in-store space to sell more accessories. The full edition of the magazine is found here and our article starts on page 12.
As a bonus, we feature our local Source for Sports location in the article.
We’re featured in The Interline’s newest report on product lifecycle management in fashion.
Our contribution is an article titled “Velocity to Market.” We discuss why digital transformation without process innovation is almost certain to fail.

Retail Strategy Group was present at the Retail Council of Canada’s Store 2023 Conference. The event took place from May 29th to 31st and I took the stage to moderate a panel discussion titled “The Impact of Exclusion at the Top.”
“Organizations seeking leadership transformation succeed by addressing policies and practices that misalign how women are seen, and the qualities and experiences people tend to associate with the current generation of leaders. In this session, our panel discusses risks incurred when women are not equally represented in leadership and share strategies for how tangible change can be fostered.”
Thank you to the Retail Council of Canada for creating space to talk about women in retail.
I also met the who’s who of Canadian retail movers and shakers…
