This election year presents?voters with once-in-a-generation choices,?as well as the added?engagement?of?ranked-choice voting.?Let’s?go down the Democratic primary ballot (excuse us, opposition parties). Election Day is June 16.?
Brooke Pinto for Delegate?
Brooke Pinto has done an outstanding job as?Ward?2 Council member. We know her well. She?is responsible for?passing comprehensive crime legislation that halted the upward crime trend. She supported the Commanders stadium package and?has?practical ideas on housing. We agree with former Mayor Anthony Williams, who wrote: “Brooke Pinto knows our city, knows the dynamics of?Congress?and knows that we deserve a strong,?stable?and thriving economy. She will navigate us through these troubled waters which will enable all Washingtonians to succeed, all to be safe and to have autonomy to chart our own future.”
For these reasons and more, The Georgetowner endorses?Brooke Pinto for Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives from the District of Columbia.?
?Kenyan McDuffie for Mayor?
Former Council member Kenyan McDuffie?offers?a balanced approach to advocating for the residents and the business community of the District of Columbia. He is not in favor of tax increases.?He is a strong proponent of vocational training for students in our public schools.?He envisions realistic housing targets of 12,000 new housing units, while preserving 20,000 affordable units by 2030 and wanting to help first responders and teachers with housing.?McDuffie served for 13 years on the District Council. He has written and?passed?several pieces of legislation related to public safety, economic?development?and civil rights.
For these reasons and more, The Georgetowner endorses?Kenyan McDuffie for Mayor of the District of Columbia.?

?
