Late spring on the Eastern Shore invites a slower pace.?Adirondack chairs sit in easy rows at the water’s edge, waiting for the long light of evening.?The season offers a palette of sea blue and vermilion — the flash of a crab shell, a dusting of Old Bay — and with it, much to see, do, buy and try.???

To inspire the month: oysters on chipped ice at a long Memorial Day table and objects that bring ease to outdoor living.

Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

Tidal marshland at its most elemental. Cordgrass and migratory birds trace the horizon. Hiking the five miles of?trail?is a beautiful way to spend an early morning.?

Weather Gage Coffee

A charming stop for a frothy cappuccino or butterfly pea flower tea over ice. The floral program elevates the space: on a recent visit, coral charm peonies were arranged against architectural azalea branches, greeting visitors.?

Benjamin

Color-drenched in an enveloping shade of mink, this Easton showroom offers a considered edit of crystal, porcelain and silver. For a seafood-forward table, Nymphenburg’s Rococo Mare Nostrum porcelain collection adds a sense of occasion. See also: Lobmeyr’s mouth-blown muslin glass cocktail tumbler.?

The Modern Bulldog

A bright space with a smart curation of?modernist?furniture,?art?and accessories. On display are pieces by Alvar Aalto, Charles and Ray Eames and Hans Wegner, whose wishbone chair, finished in natural cord caning, would lend itself well to a coastal-inspired home.??

The Inn at Perry Cabin

Set along the Miles River,?it’s?the perfect backdrop for cocktails and oysters Rockefeller to mark the unofficial start of summer.??

Sunflowers and Greens

A sunny perch for a lingering patio lunch. Try the poached pear salad or spring legumes with cold-poached salmon. Local fava beans, spring peas and radish offer a bright crunch when tossed in a fresh dill vinaigrette.
