Wilson hosts The Caring Generation® family talk radio program for caregivers and aging adults this coming Wednesday, November 18th, on the Bold Brave Media Network. The program airs live at 9 p.m. EST. The Caring Generation® aired initially from 2009 to 2011 on 630 KHOW-AM in Denver, Colorado.

Surprises about taking care of elderly parents catch caregivers off guard when expectations fail to deliver. Wilson shares how what caregivers don't know negatively impacts the lives of working caregivers and spousal caregivers on this caregiving radio show.
Caregivers struggle to adapt to new patterns that support taking care of elderly parents. Wilson discusses ten concerns and offers suggestions for caregivers who may be considering giving up a job to care for elderly parents. Oher discussions include tips for coping through uncertain care situations and ways to remain mentally positive.
Being a caregiver involves making serious life decisions that have long term consequences. Companies today don't realize the significant number of employees who are working caregivers. Caregivers fear coming forward to talk about family issues that may be viewed negatively by a supervisor.
As a result, working caregivers opt out of the workforce with good intentions to care for elderly parents. Years later, after attempting to re-enter the workforce, caregivers realize that leaving a position may not have been the best decision.
Middle-aged or near retirement caregivers may experience job discrimination. Young caregivers who delayed going to college may not meet the education requirements of positions of interest. Wilson discusses the importance of being thoughtful in considering the short and long term consequences of taking care of elderly parents.
Caregiver Radio Show Guest Dr. Aninda B. Acharya – What is Anosognosia?
The special guest for this program is Dr. Aninda Acharya, Professor of Neurology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, who joins Wilson to talk about anosognosia. Caregivers will learn how anosognosia might apply to ytheir caregiving situation when an elderly parent lacks insight or forgets conversations. Caregivers find these situations frustrating but may not know that a medical diagnosis exists for this caregiving experience.
Dr. Acharya completed his undergraduate, medical training, and neurology residency at the University of Kansas plus a 2-year stroke fellowship at Washington University in Saint Louis, MO. His main clinical and research interests include rehabilitation after stroke, traumatic brain injury, and treatment of migraine and other headache disorders.
