The Caring Generation® Radio: Life As a Caregiver – Assessing Caregiver Stress

Golden CO- Caregiving expert Pamela D. Wilson hosts The Caring Generation® family talk radio program for caregivers and aging adults this coming Wednesday, October 21st, on the Bold Brave Media Network. The program airs live at 9 p.m. EST. The Caring Generation® aired initially from 2009 to 2011 on 630 KHOW-AM in Denver, Colorado.

Life As a Caregiver

The topic of this caregiver radio program is Life as A Caregiver. Becoming a caregiver results in many life adjustments that result in caregiver stress. A caregiver's role crosses many areas that include people skills, problem-solving, teamwork, negotiation, and time management. When a caregiver experiences a knowledge gap in one area, this may negatively impact the success of implementing other caregiving skills.

As caregivers exchange time between various parts of life, assessing caregiver stress becomes vital to develop strategies to manage areas of more significant stress or importance. When caregivers create weekly time to look at positive and challenging situations, the ability to learn and transfer skills used in personal and work lives expands.

Assessing Caregiver Stress

On this show, Wilson takes caregivers through the components that add up to life as a caregiver. By prioritizing life goals as a caregiver, stress can be managed more easily with the realization that the caregiver can only do so much. Participation by aging parents is necessary so that caregivers are not pulled between their own families, careers, and elderly parents' needs.

Wilson shares information about her online caregiver survey. The survey on her website gives caregivers a voice to identify areas of stress and receive helpful information in articles and future topics for The Caring Generation radio program.
