For God sake, plastic is a killer! What is it going to take to wake up the nation to the harm that has been done to our places and its animals…. just maybe, this virus is Mother Earth’s wakeup call!!!!!! We have to stop making plastic packaging. NOW. We’ve destroyed marine life by dumping plastic in the oceans. Our local recyclers no longer recycle plastic and our landfills are full. My family has stopped using plastic bags and buying plastic containers.  Manufacturers have to switch to packaging made from recycled cardboard and sustainably recycled cans and plastic. Retool our LOCAL factories to make recycled sustainable packaging and products, grow local, water-saving produce year-round and protect our resources, while reducing the damage caused by long distance shipping. It will give our planet and our young citizens a chance to have a future. It will create local jobs and must also provide for shipping options that use less fossil fuel. Amazon, with its speedy shipping, has accelerated global warming and abused and endangered its workers. Most communities have local post offices. Local communities should retool to become basically self-sustaining year round. B Linder, Fenton MI

Clutter from plastic is awful. Why can manufacturers make this stuff? China is planning on banning all single-use plastic by 2025. If they can do it, we can. We should beat them at their own game. Plastic is made from styrene, and is a known carcinogen. No one knows how individuals are affected, they only know they are. Each person is different, like alcoholism or the ability to give birth. If we return to glass and metal, we’ll all be better off. Much easier to reuse and recycle these products than plastic. Plastic is a waste of energy. Jon Krueger, Jackson MI
