Staging Diva Debra Gould believes that a person's work should be a direct offshoot of their interests.

On the Home Staging Business Report blog, Gould discusses how an individual's talents can be used to make a living.

"Work should not be something we need to escape from—work should be a natural extension of our talents and passions," Gould writes.

As a professional home stager, trainer and mentor to thousands of home stagers, Gould believes that work should be the thing that helps people feel truly alive and engaged, and she says that occurs when a person follows their passions.

"We each have our own God-given talents that we can use to make money and help others. We're each in control of the path our lives take. Every day we make choices about how we spend our time, attention and money—and doing nothing is also a choice to say 'no' to an alternate path."

Some may say that Gould is lucky to be working for herself as a home stager, but she believes that luck has nothing to do with it.

"Being in the right place at the right time can play some part in the success of a business, it is mostly commitment, hard work and doing something you're passionate about that will allow you to create your own 'luck' in this world," she says.

Gould refuses to believe that only a select few are destined to live the lives they have dreamed of: "We all have the potential to achieve our goals, but the biggest obstacle is our own mindsets. I created the Staging Diva line of home staging training products to help aspiring home stagers build successful businesses faster and with less struggle and more confidence."

Gould's hope is that each person will reach a place where they no longer "have to go to work" but they "get to go to work" and see it as a natural extension of who they really are.
